So, Doha. Anyone been?

I'll be heading out there next month to err, live.
From my sample of one friend who worked there for a couple of years, it's a sthole and as much spare time as possible was spent in Dubai (or Europe).

Still... mercilessly flogging something suitable around sand dunes should be pretty fun. V8 Landcruiser will be the option that doesn't break.

I guess there options for some motorcircuit fun in Bahrain and Dubai too.

When I visited Dubai we went on one of those day trips out to the dunes - every vehicle out there was a white Landcruiser. The one I was in performed faultlessly with 7 on board, aircon working and redlined over dunes for a couple of hours and thrashed there and back. No creaks, groans or wobbly handling. I looked over and it had 250,000 km on the clock.
pretty much the same story from my buddy. Not a vast amount to do, he spends about every moment of spare time drinking in the rugby club.
The natives spend as much time as they can outside of Qatar, says it all.
If you do buy a car make sure it is not an import because the correct cars have a much beefier AC system to cope with the temps. I think its called Gulf Spec.

The best feature I've seen over here on the swiss version of autotrader is a list of all standard and optional equipment for each car for sale (unless the car is an import). I'm not sure how they know this, its certainly not entered by the individual owners but automatically generated, so probably from some database somewhere.

It avoids all the "fully loaded innit bruv" when all it has is optional fog lights.

I believe it's not for rigidity but to allow a larger fuel tank which remains behind the front axle line (racing regulation). The larger tank encroaches into where the front diff would be. LHD GT3s had the option of a 90L tank vs standard 67L.

For 997s the C4 is widebody, so the GT3 is a C2 shell with C4 front floorpan/bulkhead (not sure precisely how much).

Seems as Aero kit is a bit marmite there are deals out there.

Thought this one at 911V is keenly priced consdiering the vendor.

I need to scratch the 911 itch but driving one 3mins to and from the station each day can't be good, can it? And yes I know the answer is to leave earlier and walk!

They'll always be worth saving, but I'd say they're another bubble and crash away from being a classic!

I don't see you losing money in one. I think you're a way off making a big profit though.

E500 wagon collected. It has lots of kit and it wafts along very nicely.

If I listen carefully I can just hear the high pitched whistle as it depreciates still further...
