Apologies if I missed the back story, but... What vintage?
Recent. 2010 W212. So probably of little interest to be honest.

It is however all the family car I need.

Was reading the history of the car yesterday. One receipt from Merc says 'investigate alarm going off randomly - no fault found' well, fault confirmed. 3.fking40 am. Twice in succession! Off to the specialist this morning! Forums seem to suggest the siren batteries.

Question for the collective: do we think that Clio Trophies are going to be worth money in the future?
I'm hoping that they stay roughly where they are until I can afford to throw a few k at one and store it for occasional use.

Have another hehe

Sorry!

Depending on what they find, is it possible to disconect the alarm and use some aftermarket immobiliser? Annoying though!

Indeed. Sounds like a proper sleeper and it must be a rare beast.

Probably a stupid thing to put on a forum but...... Worst case. Does anyone know how to leave the car unlocked? It seems to lock itself after 30secs. Having said that... A forum said if you unlock and then open a door it doesn't re-lock. That's what I did and it hasn't gone off since. Should go down and check really.

I sometimes have the opposite problem. Outside one friend's house, literally just in that 20ft section of road, it's nearly impossible for the remote to manage to lock the car.

As the owner of plastic dash and door cards - just buy it an marvel how well it handles.. I have other cars with leather dash and door cards and non make me grin like the Cayman.

Agreed.

Beggers & Choosers etc.

Can't believe one can be so picky as to reject a car owing to the covering of its door cards.

Best cars I've owned have poverty spec.

BMWs suffer similar, and the bonnet switch is the culprit. Quick fix is to disconnect it. Unless you have a CSL, in which case doing that will ruin your day.

I've had my C43 for 4 years now and its alarm has gone off randomly (I think!) a few times in the middle of the night, but it has never been a persistent problem so I've never done anything about it.

Not so much poverty spec but subtle spec... a 7er or S would not "work" with plastic dash.. and whilst such trimming is visually good and tactile I would rather skip them on a 2 proper sports car... Havent looked but assume GT3/RS dont have such ?

Actually it does, but I couldn't care less about it.

I would have had my Cayman with the bog std alcantara seats if i could have... the "big" alcantara in the GTS is just lovely. I'm far from saying you are wrong - just that imho the cayman is about so much more than the interior - my primary wants were a 2.7 and manual in yellow/red/orange, would have liked sport chrono and cruise but couldnt find one so compromised. Neither was really bothering me and I supposed I could retro fit cruise and the sport plus if I really wanted.

Having driven a 2.7 manual with sport chrono @ PDC Silverstone - I now need throttle blipping on the downchange - cos the ecu does it better than my size 13's smile

A leather dash might be preferable but for me it would be an incidental benefit if my chosen car had it. I wouldn't have the patience to hold out if a car was otherwise how I wanted it!

Then again, buy in haste and repent in leisure.... I can understand not wanting to spend the next 10 years in a car cursing the dashboard every time you look at it. hehe
