Seems a shame to pass on a good example when your local friendly trimmer could attend to your leathery needs for a shilling or two.

Men in sheds in Bolton do a decent enough job of engineering out all the fk ups that Porsche engine designers failed to get right.

Pretty sure a similarly skilled man in a shed could cut up some cow skin, fit it, and unlike most Porsche extended leather I've seen, actually get the stiching straight.

That's due to the "character" algorithm they programme the CNC sewing machines with, same department does the electric steering feedback.

Apologies if I missed the back story, but... What vintage?
Recent. 2010 W212. So probably of little interest to be honest.

It is however all the family car I need.
Sounds ace, pics please
Indeed. Sounds like a proper sleeper and it must be a rare beast.
You are too kind.

The Saab was named Lisbeth (may her wheels always be shod with proper tyres). This one has been named Angela.

Debadged of course;

Funky roof;

Expensive HiFi;

Distracting TV and 6 disc DVD changer;

Sufficient propulsion.

The number plate is not mine, and the car will be reverting to a normal plate as soon as the DVLA can process the paperwork.

The guys at Southbound will do the dash and both door cards in leather for about £1,800 (less if you do the removal/refitting yourself). They have a whole range of other Moose-delights in leather that you can select from as well.

I've had my C43 for 4 years now and its alarm has gone off randomly (I think!) a few times in the middle of the night, but it has never been a persistent problem so I've never done anything about it.
Did it 3 times last night, going to the Indy later for a plug into star. Has been a good excuse to check out the local indy's tbh! Think I've found the one ill use. Quoted £550 to replace the wing that has 3 crusty patches. Plus new customer special of £230+ vat for a B service! (Not inc plugs)

Like that. My old boy has a W212 E350 CDI which I actually rate as probably one of the best family cars money can buy. It's also indecently rapid.

Top work.

IMO that entirely depends on the customer. If you specify oem look I'd expect it to look good. It's when people start fking about and nothing matches that it looks like a dogs dinner!

That E500 really questions why anyone would buy an X5 or an ML.

Wait... someone actually paid for a re-trim in Savanna? Wow.

Although, I must say, that is a truly stunning bit of work.

Indeed, especially when the MPG figures for the diesel SUVs are comparable to the V8 petrol E-class.

My thanks. We looked hard at an E350 CDI, but we don't do the mileage to need diesel and wanted memory seats (frequent changes of driver and the old Saab spoilt us with them).
Memory seats seems a rare option (and having seen the cost I know why). A 3.5 litre V6 petrol would have been acceptable, but when the 500 turned up with all the kit we wanted and more besides for significantly less than a 350CDI it would have been churlish to refuse.

Time will tell if that was a sensible decision. I assume that any problems with the air suspension will be rather hard on the credit card.

We wanted a large estate with some go. Not an SUV or 4x4, but an estate. And we didn't particularly want a diesel. There were remarkably few options. Also, PH classified search sticks 4x4/SUV in the "Estate" tag; which is most annoying.

Managed to get mrs envy to view a few cars for the next change, had settled on a touareg but that's just thrown cats into the pigeon loft.

Turns out my OH hates estates and likes Cayennes (is that a common female thing?), otherwise the previous generation E500 estate or maybe an E63 would be on the cards. Might still go for a saloon. I really like the idea of the dual sunroof too.

I have it on good authority that only females drive Cayennes out in Doha. So, yes.

I plan to buck the trend, however.
