You are too kind.
Not at all. With a baby on the way, I've got a whole new interest in family wagons and a growing appreciation of the under-the-radar uber-barge proper-engined jobbies that seem to have fallen so far from favour as to be almost extinct.I doubt the fund quite stretches at the moment, but in a couple of years time something like that would be perfect.
Very nice indeed!

Perhaps you and I will be fighting over Mr E's E500 in a couple of years. I doubt the fund quite stretches at the moment, but in a couple of years time something like that would be perfect.

That E500 really questions why anyone would buy an X5 or an ML.
As much as I like that E500, it really doesn't.In my current position I'm selling my X5, would consider a 5er/E-Class estate temporary replacement, but would be until the time is right to be back in an X5. They are, quite honestly, great cars. But they're categorically not drviers' cars. Why they were ever marketed as such is beyond me.
Having spent some time in an '06 FFRR recently, it's a more comfortable but less practical alternative. Nice enough, but not for me. A post-2010 X5 40d next, I think.

Apropos of nothing, is anyone else excited about seeing Andre Lotterer in F1 this weekend?
Hadn't seen this. What's he having a go in? It will be interesting to see how he gets on in a "sprint" format. Also very curious to see how a 16 year old handles a Toro Rosso.
Replacing Kobaykrashi in a Lotus for the weekend. Has a background in F3 and Formula Nippon, and was Jag's test driver in 2002 so won't be new to single seaters. Plus, he's a three-time Le Mans overall winner, so not new to racing. And given LMP1 (if not all LM classes) are 24hr sprint races now, I suspect he could do OK if the car lasts...
Verstappen in next year could be great, could be rubbish - I suspect we, and he, won't know until he starts. But Torro Rosso are normally switched on at who they have drive for them.
