It's about as appealing as a standard Miura. So like an evening with Jim Davidson.

You buy me that Miura (or indeed any Miura, standard or not), and I'll get you an evening with Jodie Kidd*. biggrin

A kind offer.

Let me just check my Celebrity Masterchef repository - if she can cook as well as I remember, you're on.

who are these chaps? Some nice metal. Seem to be operating several themed sites.
Same road as 4Star, and very similar photos too.

ETA - and the Fast Classics site has Gruber's old M5 on it.

EATA - and the orange CSL in the photo above is listed as sold on the 4Star site, and For Sale on Fast Classics - odd...

A white, 80s, convertible 911 is only ever going be highly naff for me. Fashionable for a year or two every time a 80s fashion revival comes around.

Thats really nice, and quite highly modded.

Recently I've been thinking that I don't use my Alfa enough, and am half tempted to swap to something a bit more modern and useable, but seeing things like these Petrolicious vids makes me want to keep it. As an aside I don't know what step front prices are doing at the moment (Loon?), but they've certainly increased since I bought it 5 years ago - though not enough to offset my spend on it so far.
I think what you're saying is that you need to book a track day at Donington? biggrin

For me they're one of the most useable classics out there - get a pro to put Dinitrol in the right places underneath and get driving. smile

Chaps,

Does anybody know of a decent exhaust place on the the surrey/hampshire border?

Been offered a custom stainless system for the CLK but apparently one of the mounts has to be 'modified'.

Its a funny thing itchy feet. The car is now in pretty good shape mechanically after a smattering of choice Alfaholics goodies and stock replacements. Tinkering in the garage in the evenings has sorted out quite a few niggles too. Over the summer I actually tracked it at Blyton Park and Donington, which was a hoot. I was pleasently surprised actually, and it behaved perfectly despite trying harder and harder throughout the day. You're never totally sure with an older car are you!

I suppose I'm feeling like I've reached saturation with it a little, but thats probably because autumn is approaching, and I won't use it as much when its wet and mucky on the roads. There are holes appearing in the sills which I dodn't want to get any worse before repairing (repair vs. replacement and plenty of grinding and welding), and several areas on the wings where the paint has cracked due to liberal filler underneath. This means that some bodywork is imminant which will mean more investment with no upside other than preservation. On top of this I miss the push in the back from a performance point of view, and the Alfa tops out at around 75 before the vibrations begin. I suppose these things could be addressed with more power and a different rear end or new prop and rubbers etc. For weekend use for me and the mrs its quite a compromise, and we've just found out that we are expecting too.

There are still some jobs that I'd like to do to make it perfect, like refinish the dash, fit shorter steering arms, get the radio working, fit a new steering wheel, so its persevere, or sell whilst its at a good value and change for something more usable. Short list would include a 996 and a perfect R32 Skyline.

However, in a few years time, I could probably add something else to the stable. To commute in and drive around the lanes its very involving, makes a nice noise, people come over to chat about it and I still love the way it looks.

Congratulations Joe! That's great news clapparty

WRT Alfa; I guess I can see where you are coming from and I suffer (frequently) with the itchy feet symptoms too. I guess it's either throw more money at the lil' Alfa (GTA esque with Alfaholics) or try something newer/faster.......

Nice dilemma to have though smile

Thoughts on car and vendor appreciated...

Then there's also this to mull over: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

Gash ///M kidney badge and wind deflectors aside, they're hardly the things to be concerned about.

As a keeper rather than a flipper though - seems value, non?

Also this: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

Grubby, but a late one, so the revised engine, claimed 1 owner from new and FSH, plus the lovely full leather option, even though it's a dull as fk colour combination, and it's the most local all in its favour.
