Your trophy looks lovely, I know I wouldn't give a trophy the attention it deserves, but a 182 with recaro seats would suit me just fine I think.
To be fair, that's a photo of it a while before I bought it, the sun will revolve around the earth before it looks like that again. biggrin

Oh well it gives you a standard to aim for, even if it's unattainable, although if you buy the right products I would imagine you can get close.

That being the case it will get washed plenty of times in Scotland.

Definitely agree a Lexus LS400/430 is not recommended as an only car, they have many virtues, fun isn't one of them, I've been scouring the classifieds and Renaulsports have been catching my eye, Clio's or Megane R26, or even an Abarth 500, just something to provide a little enjoyment now that I don't do many long drives, did you enjoy your 182?
I liked the 182 a lot, I'd been meaning to have one for years before I got around to it, even had a deposit on a Trophy at one point about 2 years beforehand but I kind of skipped the 'hot hatch' stage of car ownership. Only had mine 3 months but was a fun thing. However I prefer cars a that are a bit better at the suit+tie test.

Some sort of //M / barge and a hot Clio are still up there for me as a great 2 car fleet. Patrick - you've done well.

I wouldn't have another Abarth 500.
Really fun to drive, but the ride is atrocious and you need to make sure you fit in it, as the steering wheel doesn't adjust and it is tiny inside.

Give me a pm with regards R26, I picked one up a few month's back and am happy to share info regards pros and cons. Given it only moves once a week you might even be able to talk me into parting with it if it flicks your switch ;o)

Gents, whilst the topic is briefly on hot hatches, I could do with some useful suggestions that could accomplish the following

Carry a mountain bike in the back
Manage a 50 mile commute without requiring weekly attention
Be a hoot to drive on the numerous back roads that seem unique to the north of Scotland
Be less than £4k to buy.

Want to keep it for at least a couple of years, so far I've come up with the Panada 100hp, Twingo 133 and a Clio 182. What have I missed??

I should also add no BMW's, I've driven a few and never really liked or gelled with them (plus my M5 brought about total financial ruin, it's still a sore point)

Obviously a hot hatch isn't about the numbers but the Panda and Twingo seem a bit luke warm.

Crikey! I've just had my first go in a Tesla and I am stunned by its ability, what a belting package!

'tis quite nippy but it also handles well and rides beautifully. The strangest bit for me is not the lack of noise (in fact it sort of makes its own type of noise that I like - its like a "rushing" noise), but its the regenerative braking effect as soon as you lift off the throttle. It'd take a bit of getting used to but my word it covers ground very quickly and competantly indeed.

Which one did you drive? I drove the 470bhp one a few weeks ago and was also pleasantly surprised. It tails off a bit as you go faster, but from 5 mph the thing is stunningly quick!

CR6 is only 20-30mins away, at least I'd get the bugger home....

Sorry, I come from a time when the mk2 Golf GTI was thought of as a proper hot hatch, the idea of a hot hatch requiring 300bhp to wear such a title I find a little abhorrent if I'm honest

I've discounted the Impreza, been there and done that, same goes for the Civic. Not a fan of the Megane however I didn't realise the Clio 197 was quite as cheap as that!

Erm, thank you but I'll pass, one money pit every ten years is my limit I'm afraid!!
