Yeh I've been saving that Octane article, looking forward to reading it. I think they took it back 'home' and spoke to his wife?
yep - that's right - it's a good article, but a bit short.

Easier on a 964 than a 993, but thats not to say its easy. Or cheap.

It is. They had to put a lot of engineering work into it, as there is (apparently) an architectural issue with flat planes over 4.5 litres. From memory, their solution was a big rubber damper.

Yeah but the crash cummeth (you fixed your mortgage yet?)! Investment grade won't mean a jot in a few years time.

Anyone driven a tip 964? How bad can it be?

I've got the service manual for a 964 tip somewhere, but as far as I'm aware that's the problem with them-in a 993 it'll do as you ask in Spanish mode but a '64 will still over-ride things.

As I said I've only driven later versions so I can't really comment on the 964.

Gents, daft question I know, but can somebody point me in the direction of a suitable all encompassing HPI check that will tell me all the nasty info I don't want to know about before buying a car I don't need but really really want?
Well, it's nice to see my self control is still non existent, oh bother......

Dan - Just to wrap up on my brakes fix that you kindly offered help with. Took the car to Phil in the end, and was only the rears that needed doing. £350 a lot(!) more palatable than the £1000+ BMW quoted for the full works.

I think my choice of 'Mercan muscle would be this, currently:

Obviously the 700bhp doesn't influence that one little bit.

Common sense would dictate that a diesel auto would be the most suitable vehicle to journey to the 70 mile daily commute on motorway and city driving.

What have I bought instead? A Civic Type R with aftermarket Koni suspension and stainless exhaust. Does sound good though, and it goes like the clappers nuts
