Not a bad idea,if it is cheaper to have a bite to eat than the high price service stations we have now on our Motorways.

Not to have four pints and carry on your merryway.>smile

I cant work out the price thing with motorway services. Is it that they know they've got you, or is it that people (ie, me) use them for a toilet break, so they have to put the prices up because there's a smaller percentage of people who'll part with their money?

I really don't have an opinion on it. I doubt many people are going to have a few pints then get back in there car and drive. Surely it's more for passengers and as said it provides a cheap, decent quality food alternative compared to the over priced service station crap.

  • Awaits Daily Mail study into motorway pubs and drink driving related incidents. Not factoring in bottom feeders getting wasted then carrying on their journey rolleyes

Not a bad idea in terms of having somewhere alright to sit and eat, specially families / groups of people

But it goes against all the work done over the past couple of decades (and longer) to cut down drink driving rates. The temptation to have even one drink should not be there

I like it and am surprised that it's not been done earlier, captive audience with all the coach morons that normally wander around aimlessly causing queues when I want a wee or a pastie

So what are you saying.... that all supermarkets, pubs, shops and basically anywhere that sells alcohol within what a mile, 2 miles, 3 miles of a motorway should be banned from selling booze???

Wetherspoons make a big deal out of their food, teas and coffee and soft drinks - not just booze.

Can't say I've ever been tempted to stop for a pint when I pass numerous pubs during non-motorway driving. What's the difference?

you can just see the police 'goal hanging' at the exit slip road from the services

when driving the two don't mix - 1 is 1 too many

No, he's saying the opposite imo. Leave pubs next to motorways, encourage moral responsibility in drivers rather than simply taking temptation away.

Look at it as somewhere slightly better to sit and have some food than the current overpriced, nasty buffet style offerings that currently exist.

The fact they sell alcohol is a complete non story, all their money is from food. I think they'll do rather well tbh.

It would help if the non-alcoholic drinks were cheaper than the alcoholic.

So annoying when a pint of orange & lemonade is dearer than all of the drinks on promotion.

Moral victory could be won here.

If an individual can't walk past a pub without immediately wanting a drink then I would say they have a problem.
