Easy to say when you're at either extreme - you're not going to lose much money on that 306 or diesel Focus, no matter what. The value of them is going to be tied to MOT length, or how much petrol is in the tank...

Likewise at the other end it doesn't matter - multi millionaires can lose a fortune as soon as they drive off the forecourt in their brand new Ferrari FF and not give it a second thought.

For everyone else in the middle ground... being able to trade back out of a car without losing your shirt needs to play at least some part in the consideration of what you buy.

A bit harsh but true.

But that's when Man maths comes into play for those in the middle.
