Here's the M3 Coupe I posted about earlier that has photoshopped pictures from a main dealer.

Not sure why they'd do this, it's one of the first things I'd notice and it'd put me off the car straight away.
Except it doesn't look photoshopped
Except it definitely is. Look at the pagoda thing in the background. See how it's in the EXACT same position in both pics? Well they could have used a tripod, right? Wrong. Look at the lines of the car park. They move between photos and the pagoda doesn't. The car and floor are real but the background has been 'shopped in. HTH.

PS - Cue "Oh, I was only looking at the tyres" from Billy...
Actually - I think it looks more like a fake background than photoshopped!
So given that it's in the same place in the camera frame, but a different place relative to the white lines of the car park... how would that work?
Trying to see whether the background is visible at all through the windows - the third car picture if you scroll along has the same background, and looks more real. I agree that's it's weird in the first 2 that the bandstand doesn't move - and you're probably right that its photoshopped! It's actually quite well done. I suspect that the car is photographed against a white background initially which makes the 'cutting out' more real... the third one is interesting as there's no white lines in the foreground... which adds credence to the photoshop idea

The op did say the "seller" said it was a google pic in the ad, not one of the car.

It still smells like a scam though.

Just to reiterate, I put all Bridgend Audi's cars on the Internet. It's my job. They aren't photoshopped. All our photos are taken in the same place. Our photos are taken by a freelance photographer who does all the dealers/ manufacturers who use mannheim sites. We have so many cars it would not be worth the effort of mocking up backgrounds.
Edit: I appear to have conflated the two different strands to this thread. My point still stands, our cars are not photoshopped.

I think OP and his dad are now in the boot of a petrol Audi A5. He could at least whip his phone out whilst in there and give us an update.

For what it's worth, here's my take on it:-

I would never do a 20 grand deal like this.

For a 500 quid car I might take the risk, but wouldn't travel a long way for an ad with only a mobile number and a "too busy 'cos I'm always at work" kind of strap line.

I like the "approved" guarantee though - what could possibly go wrong? If it's in the ad, doesn't it become part of the deal? wink

For everyone bashing the OP, I read it as he's not now going to seriously buy the car, he's going as he's interested to see what the scam is and will hopefully run away at the last minute, providing he hanst been killed to death as soon as he arrived

From the OP's user name "paul1087" - I'm guessing that he was born in 1987 which makes him around 26.

So I can just imagine the conversation that took place with his dad.

paul1087 said:
Dad, my internet friends on Pistonheads said that this looks like a scam and we should not even bother looking at it.
paul1087's dad said:
Your friends don't know what they're talking about son, I'm sure it's fine, let's go.

Seriously, if this guy has £20k burning a hole in his pocket, he can have my 03 Mondeo for that. At least he'd have peace of mind knowing he actually owns a car when he's parted with his money...

I expect that if you follow this advert up you will be asked to send a payment to yourself via Western Union and scan the receipt to the seller. This will be to show you have the requisite funds to avoid wasting the sellers time.

What will happen though is the seller will have ID produced and will pretend to be you and will take the money and run.

Do people really do this stuff?

I'd consider it a waste of MY time to trapse up to the Western Union shop and then to a scanner etc.
Besides which, a screen print from online banking (redacted appropriately in MS Paint) would do the same job a damn site quicker/faster.

PS - Does Western Union actually do anything useful? I only EVER hear about it in connection with scams of some kind or other.
