As above really. I'm thinking about one of these as my next daily and they seem like excellent value for ~£10k.

I do around 25k a year and like somewhere nice to sit.

Quite. I think many are missing a 1 in front of the mileage, though they do wear the mileage well.

Certainly in the South East, the vast majority of diesel 7ers must be used as executive taxis. Look around the square mile, and loads of silver and black 730ds can be found idling outside the front of the big investment bank offices (along with similar Mercs and Audis).

How do you avoid the clocked cars, and get the nice ones that have been owned privately by wealthy pensioners? Set the search parameters for "OAP" colours like burgundy or dark green?

Buy one with 178,000 on the clock. duh wink

I expect they get trimmed before servicing so I doubt the paperwork would help.

Hmm. I hadn't thought too much about the possibility of clocking but now you mention it.

BMW AUC i guess would be the safest option but with the premium associated.

See gumtree for all the W221 silver S classes with the Private hire green circle still attached, sitting on 70k miles for sale in South London. There will be even more now that the w222 is so common I see 5 or 6 a day already with the badges.

After spending a extended trip in a 2013 730d It didn't seem worth any more than a 530d thst we have, both quite both quick, similar kit. The 7 is a nice car though, IDE rather have a xj

I was looking at these last year, and came to the conclusion that a 745 was a better deal. Lower purchase price and lower fuel price offsets the MPG, for me anyway.

But I bought a very low mileage 1-owner XJ 3.0 sport for just under 6K and LOVE it.

Could you dig out the model of XJ you bought? I get lost in all the variations.
