So much choice, filling every niche
This is not a bad thing if they can keep the prices sensible by component sharing between them (although there is no !M (or even 1M) any more. The M2 will be a straight replacement for it.

Not always getting it right though regards non M cars...its all about making plenty of money which in fairness bmw are experts at.

One could argue that "making lots of money" is the definition of "getting it right" as far as they are concerned.

I agree they do seem to get it right overall and I am on my 6th Beemer now so they certainly strike a cord with me.

450nm torque and a 6 speed manual by the way, brakes share a lot with those on the new M3.
Seems more likely now that the M2 will not get a detuned version of the M3/M4 S55, but a more powerful version of the N55 used in the M235 (same spec as the N55 to be seen in the forthcoming X4 4.0i) so a similar 'entry level' ///M car philosophy as the they did with the tuned N54 used in the 1M.

EU/UK M2 production is due to commence in Nov 2015 and run through to Oct 2018.....so the inside information indicates.

With the M3/M4 launch this year, and the M2 next - plenty of choice for consumers. Would like a hatchback M.

Single character, single number - less is more.

M = LSD, better fahrwerk, more tuned engine, better sounding smile
