RE: Citroen AX at the 'ring: Time For Tea?

Great video, much better to watch than some race driver spanking a supercar round there!
I once took a full race prepared, 94bhp XR3i to the old Anglesey circuit on a track day to do a bit of testing as the organisers had allowed us to fit Quaiffe LSD's in the regs for that year. After a few laps passing a variety of supposedly 'fast' cars and getting the finger off one particular Impreza driver that was none to pleased to be passed by said Escort I pulled over to the pits to a barrage of questions about "what engine it was running". It came down to the fact that I knew the circuit very well and no matter how fast they went down the straights I was always going to brake later and carry more speed into the corners than they were.
Of the 4 seasons I raced that day went down as being one of the most memorable!

I hear there's a cream for that now.
Impressive stuff, I'd like to find out a little more about the IRS rear, doesn't look turreted in the interior shots!
You don't need coil springs to be independent.Impressive stuff, I'd like to find out a little more about the IRS rear, doesn't look turreted in the interior shots!
Do the non GT/GTi AX's have rear ARBs?
Suppose technically the rear suspension on them is independant, the trailing arms are free to rotate around the beam independently, only constrained by their own torsion bar, and the ARB end plates if any are fitted.
I notice, however, that in the vid commentary he says the only mods are the front tyres, strut brace, fuel pressure and xenon lights, nothing about suspension mods! PH error perhaps?
All are fully independent - an ARB doesn't make any difference in that respect, as almost all cars have them and it simply changes the spring rate at the wheel, not the angle of the wheel when the opposing wheel extends/compresses.
EDIT: deeply impressive commitment from the driver too!

106, AX, 306, 205, saxo and many more use a torsion beam rear suspension.
