i really must give it a go in GT6
shame theres no AX though.. but countless other pointlessly powerless cars of similar pedigree
I was inspired to have a go with a Fiat Panda. Stage 1 power for 59hp, Sport Hard tyres on the front only (leaving Comfort Medium on the rear), plastic windows for 720kg.shame theres no AX though.. but countless other pointlessly powerless cars of similar pedigree
From the in-car view, the lurching and lift-off oversteer was a fair match for AX video, although the driving talent certainly was not. Still, at least it'll hurt a lot less to have an off in GT...
Kind-of off topic slightly, but did anyone who had an AX ever have any bother with the brakes?
I remember the brakes on mine would lock solid, something to do with the rod between the pedal and the master cylinder running along the bulkhead sticking - I seem to recall I was told it was because the left-hand drive cars didn't have this rod but when Citroen made a RHD version they left the brake master cylinder on the same side as LHD cars and had to engineer this rod to connect the pedal to the other side of the car.
I remember having to pop the bonnet, get out, retrieve the wheel brace from the boot, open the bonnet and whack the rod with the wheel brace in order to get the car to move!

Loads of cars have this set up, I've never heard of them sticking before though! That's a tremendous waste of resources all in the cause of such a trivial and inconsequential goal.blasos said:

Fastest lap of the Nordschleife (that in itself controversial due to its lack of definition) in a crappy 80s non-turbo diesel hatch? One can only admire his dedication and driving skill, but I think he could have spent the time and money more productively, in better, faster, more mechanically robust machinery.

I had a AX GT5, bought it 10 years old and 93000miles on the clock - amazing fun when it ran but slowly fell apart around me! Worst car i ever bought, but miss it!
Happy days
Same.Happy days
I got a '92 GT in 1999.
Lasted about a year before someone punted it up the road with me in it.
Had wonderful issues like the carburettor bolts would keep coming undone, making the car stall (usually saved for busy roundabouts).
Sunroof was never water tight, there was a leak that would soak the drivers seatbelt so I'd always get to work with a wet stripe across my shirt.
Speed humps had to be taken slowly or the drivers window would pop out of it's runner and fall into the door.
Headlights needed a tap to come on main beam.
Foglights were rusted solid and never worked.
The exhaust tip fell off and burned a hole in the rear bumper.
2nd Worst car I've ever owned, but I miss it.

A Ford Escort I bought for 50 quid when I blew my Honda's engine up.
It was a hateful car that had no redeeming features. But it served a purpose.
A - how on earth do you blow up a Honda engine? They're legendary for their robustness and keenness to rev.It was a hateful car that had no redeeming features. But it served a purpose.
B - what generation of Escort?
C - was the Escort really any less reliable than the Citroen?

A. 9.2 PSI @ 9200rpm on a stock JDM engine (higher compression). Bent crank, two cylinders heavily scored, lots of det on all four pistons, stretched timing chain, all four sets of piston rings shot.B - what generation of Escort?
C - was the Escort really any less reliable than the Citroen?
B. 5th I think, about '92/93. Think it was a 1.6 Estate.
C. I had it a few months. Lots of welding for the MOT, automatic choke failed (replaced with a manual one), 2 ECUs, a fuel cap, rear doors seized, and a lot of water leaks, engine stalls when warm. It also didn't have any of the redeeming fun factor that the AX had.
