Now I'm sure some will love this. It can't be denied a lot of work has gone into it including adding rust. I'd assume it'd not be legal on a UK road without mudguards?

Also, a lovely car ruined although again well done if you like that sort of thing. Each to their own I suppose.

Bizarrely, and believe me they are not my kind of cars, I quite like both of them for different reasons

I agree, there's something about them, especially the VW. A bit of a shame with the second one though, I'd have thought it is a quite rare car. It could have been a basket case or just a shell though in which case if it floats your boat why not?

Perhaps gasmasks will be the next must-have driving accessory?

The workmanship on the Hanomag is superb. The builder, Dave Rothwell, also built this Standard Flying 12 which is even nicer:

Would you happen to know if it has passed the IVA test that it would need before being legal on UK roads?

The car doesn't look too bad, the description however rather puts me off...

Assume you mean the Standard - afraid I don't know if it was tested. It was for sale recently (the owner was emigrating I think) but I don't know if it sold. It was in Custom Car mag (Jan '09) Volvo V70 engine and a Supra 'box. Lovely

I dont see a problem with either of those, both great looking machines and very interesting.

I agree, as long as people realise that they will need to be trailered to events, as neither of them are road legal.

According to one of the stories linked off the auction, it has an estimated 190MPH top speed. Aside from being unsure it could make anything like that speed without shedding body / trim parts, I'm not sure I'd be comfortable doing 90MPH in that thing... let alone 190MPH!!

I wondered what had happened to that. I followed the story a couple of years ago but then forgot about it.

It looks rough and the proportions are just wrong around the door / rear window area.

And how are you going to insure a Granada with an Audi V8 engine in a home made body?

"We have information on our database regarding G707XNK, a Ford Granada Scorpio I (5 Door Hatchback)."

Will it need an IVA (or whatever it's called) check as well?

Yes the eBay ad says its the buyers responsibility to make road legal. "Just take it to your friendly IVA tester" apparently. smile

I have only owned this car for about 6 months but it has not given me a single problem during this time

when I brought the car it was an original 5 speed car with dodgy syncros
ebay numpty dug further and said:
the car currently has an abs light on due to a worn through wire on the passenger side
