the RS1900 was never a genuine factory car - was in fact built by a dealer (bristol street motors i believe) and based on an XR3i not a RS Turbo. Engine was an american tall block 1900cc hence the 1900 in the name

you sure ? thought the RS 1900 was built at dagenham as a limited edition car because i remember these cars all came with a plaque saying built by "DAGENHAM MOTORSPORT LONDON" with the built number on it just like the RS 500 plaque

Yeah maybe you are right on the dagenham bit but it won't be the factory, it will have been Dagenham Motors Hayes Ltd - a ford dealer

It's not an official car, and that 'long black' cvh engine was 1800 originally. If you bored them to 1.9, they used shed loads of oil! And we're low revving too, and made about 130hp only.
Not quite true, there's an American 1900 CVH block and that's different from the one in the Sierra and Escort/Fiesta. People like Specialised Engines do quite a bit of them, I had one in a kit car taken to Stage 3 and it was pretty torquey. Taking the 1600 or 1800 out to 1900 was a bit much on the walls, but the standard American block was mostly fine, it's just that they were used as a performance upgrade and people put a load of headwork on and didnt uprate anything on the block.
I think it's possible it's original, that doesnt mean it's any good. I think it's fugly but that's just me
