This one's really baffling:

Not a 406 or an MR2 or even a replica - more of a heavy facelift / upgrade.
Doesn't seem to be selling though.

It's neither 348 or 355 so no one wants a hybrid ,originality sells.

Cheap for someone willing to risk it....smile

All I can think of is that the owner 'can' and that they have plenty of money.
Wouldn't it have been simpler to sell the 348 and just buy a 355 ?

If he did it when the 355 came out, then I doubt it as you'd be comparing the least popular mid engined Ferrari with the latest and greatest, which was hailed at the time as an incredibly good car - Clarkson said it was the best car he'd ever driven and was "motoring perfection". The cost to upgrade would have been huge and way more than making a 348 look like a 355. To me though it's a very weird thing to do - make your 348 look like a kit car and devalue it; I guess it shows how desperate he was to show he had the latest thing. Rather sad really, in the true sense of the word.

Because, of course, Pininfarina _always_ and _only_ design cars with the exact same wheelbase...

FFS.

Still, at least it is a v6. The last one that was on fleaBay was an HDi.

The kit itself... http://www.extreme-sportscars.com/360/extras.html

Can never understand why anybody buys fake gear of any sort. This car is laughable and will most likely crack further due to the cement mixer loads of filler used and just generally fall apart given even very light use. Just turned down a 406 coupe with f.s.h for £600, even the base car is a P.O.S. This guy reckons it turns heads, surely he means stomachs..

I love it when a fake ferrari turns up here

It gives me a huge giggle

As the reason that a vast proportion of ferraris are bought is that people can be seen in a ferrari

And the replicas are a HUGE reminder of this.

Same with fake watches you can buy a fake rolex that tells the time more accurately then a real rolex.

The only reason people buy a rolex is to be seen with a rolex not because it is better

Oh the 406 coupe is a very handsome car but you call it a POS is because it is FWD and everything FWD is terrible to the self confessed petrolhead

The ad is a bit painful to read in places, but I was a bit alarmed by the 'Fire proof seats' !!!

My Capri and Escort background means a ' proper' car has to be RWD - However, I did enjoy the Focus ST very much and although the 406 coupe is a little insipid, unless you go the V6 route, they do drive very nicely, are very pretty, ride well and actually are a very civillised and economical mile muncher if you go for the 136 bhp hdi.

Just wondered when I saw the OP if you were thinking of going down the Ferrari route?

Not sure I'd ever buy a replica - even a genuinely accurate one - but for me they have to have:
  • Engine in the right place
  • Right number of cylinders
  • Similar performance, grip and handling characteristics to the original
  • Must be visually identical inside and out
Something like a Lynx D-Type I might just accept.

These nasty psuedo-replicas really baffle me, though. It's not as if they're even that cheap - for the price of one of those you could get a perfectly nice 911, or if you were feeling brave a genuine Ferrari 400i.

I have to admit, I do quite like the original Veranti, which is a rebodied MR2 without any pretence of being otherwise:

It's a bit different, it won't rust and you don't look like a gimp who can't afford a Ferrari.

ETA Just for the record, I'd consider a 406 Coupe too. Just not one with hilariously optimistic badges.
