Ferrari's quote on the issue - "virtually zero turbo lag. The turbos are compact, the turbines have little inertia, and there's a variable boost management system."
Oh must be true then.

Remember what they said about the Enzo's weight?

What, may I ask, would you expect them to say?

I do not think the Pagani should be classed along side the main three, the reason being this car is likely to have at least a ten year life span. Plus it has no hybrid capability. We can expect a roadster version, plus an F and an R version. The engine is also currently working at its lowest tune. Expect large hikes over the coming years
I was only using the Pagani to illustrate how many of these million quid cars are selling

But the P1 is the only vehicle able to produce 600kgs of downforce, so it is P1 technology producing it.
That's a fairly mundane amount for a proper racing car. I'd be surprised if some road cars don't make similar amounts. I seem to remember the Viper ACR does about that, I think that Gumpert thingy does too. Maybe some of the crazy special edition Zondas - the R does but it's not a road car.

The new Ferrari California T has zero turbo lag due to a very clever technological advancement.
Can someone remind me as to which cars we believe everything the manufacturers say and which ones we slaughter as lies and propaganda?

It changes so often.
McLaren F1 2007. The greatest industrial espionage and ensuing economy with the truth ever witnessed in motorsport.

That's a rather large can of worms to open up.

Obvious troll is obvious and all that, but it still doesn't make any sense.

The turbo has an electric motor attached to it, that keeps it spooled up. Lag is caused by the initial effort required to spool up the turbo. This has now been eliminated by the attached motor. The F1 cars of 2014 will use a similar system.
I hope this answers your doubtfulness.

Yes it's scintillating.
The lag is eliminated by means of an attached electric motor that permanently keeps the turbo spooled up. F1 cars will utilise a similar system this year onward.

Where does that info come from - all the info suggests they're low-inertia twin-scroll turbos - there's no mention of any electric motor attached to them.

It's been really bugging me that the P1 reminds me of another car, definitely Japanese. Today I've figured it out. Behold the P1 predecessor

Seriously, there isn't even the faintest likeness apart from the colour.

Cracking vid and the first Super/Hyper/Mega Car that I have found genuinely desirable, in ages.

Not that my opinion counts for SFA but if you're a car fan, it's nice to have an object of desire that you hold above all else, the proverbial Countach on the wall poster thingy.

No doubt, I'd love to see the footage of the full lap - the preview we got in the 'Yes, of course' video certainly wasn't enough.

Porsche is said to be headed back to the Ring when the weather gets better with yet another revision on the spec of their 918, hoping to improve on their time. Maybe after that happens McLaren will indulge us?

>8^)
ER
..maybe Ron has it on his phone and watches it daily, then practices his best sh!t eating grin in the mirror...all the time readying himself to crush Porsche and Ferrari's fragile ego's with this devastating lap? ..you tell us I don't know what they are playing at?
It's seems very simple to me, we are Mclaren, you may remember us from 50 years of Grand Prix excellence we are some some of the best engineers on the planet...look at this amazing car we've made, look what it can do..
And Luca D over at Ferrari doesn't indulge in telling the world how their cars are better, the best etc... Wouldn't you expect them to big up backing their products to the limit, aiding the marketing with their brand of bullst.

I don't get those moaning that McLaren have somehow come up short because it's slower than the Veyron Super Sport... So what? Is that really what it's all about. The LF and 918 won't get near the Veyron either but don't doubt for a moment that if ultimate top speed was the target Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche could do it. Their cars are built to a completely different set of parameters to Veyron's original 1000bhp/252mph plus luxuries.

How much downforce does the HDF kit add to a F1 for example?
if you have enough money to buy F1 these days (they are going for like..3 mil plus?) you can add a custom active aero kit which won't cost over tenth the price of F1 (yes it will cost 300K because quality engineering costs and they have to test it)

it would produce 0 kg of downforce on straights and a few ton of downforce when you let the throttle or turn the wheel, that thing would easily smoke all of P1/918/LaF&Co.

Bump.

So when you drove/dreamed/lied/masterbated over a black horse (delete as appropriate) the Cali, did it have e-boosted turbo?

I would love the tech details......
