RE: Chris Harris video: McLaren P1
Discussion
With so much hype around Chris's vid of this car I'm glad it didn't disappoint. What an absolutely stonking video, a genuine hats off to Chris and his helpers for putting this one together and loved the chat with Mr Goodwin, what a thoroughly pleasant and knowledgable bloke indeed.
Chris in your F40/50 review you mentioned the tape you listened to in your younger days of the F40 at Silverstone, we'll I genuinely think the people today would say that watching this video could do the same to today's generation of petrol heads to make the P1 the car of the current crop we'll all yearn for.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing, Amazing.....what a car!
I love everything about it, I love the approach McLaren take....their openness (spank it...that's what its for!) their whole attitude seems to be the polar opposite of Ferrari. Form very much follows function in the McLaren ethos....how it should be!
We should be very, very proud that this is British designed and built....what an advert for UK PLC!
The gauntlet has been well and truly thrown down!

Not quite as informative as I would have hoped, didn't answer the only question people want answered,
What IS wrong with McLaren?
The only question I need answering is this: Is it really a whole new thing? What IS wrong with McLaren?
Wonderful video, Chris is like a child at times - I love that wide-eyed enthusiasm and genuine shock at what he's experiencing. Just wow.
Amazed that so many are writing off the LaFerrari without a single road-test. Is it blind patriotism I wonder? Its worth remembering that the LaF is much lighter and much more powerful than the P1 and that Ferrari are on a pretty good run of form at the moment (the F12 is criticised for being TOO sharp and responsive by some, and that's not even a hypercar. And not one journo prefers the MP4 to the 458). Admittedly Ferrari's aero will have to be very clever to match the downforce of that huge wing on the P1 for quicker laptimes.
And TG are wrong (not a massive shock, I know), LaF customer cars have been delivered. Search YouTube and you'll see two red ones and a black one on the streets of Monaco.
Write Ferrari off at your peril.....

This is just a stab in the dark but something tells me you may have already backed a horse in this race... Wonderful video, Chris is like a child at times - I love that wide-eyed enthusiasm and genuine shock at what he's experiencing. Just wow.

I do agree with the above though.
Except the light bit. We all fell for that with the Enzo claim then reality.
Incredible car, and very good-looking. Very good video, as well. I can really understand Chris' excitement. It's such a pity that they are so unobtainable, and will remain so for so many petrolheads.
My only gripe is the drifting, which seems blasphemous for a car that has had so much engineering put into it. Leave that for the for the Tesco car park crowd, please.

It looks fantastic on the move....even if the Ferrari is somehow better this is out now....you wouldn't put past mclaren to top this in a couple of years. All sold....imagine where they would be if the F1 had been a sales success...we'd probably have cayman sized car most if us could aim for.

Are you kidding??I sometimes get bored of seeing him drift some big heavy German saloon on track because that's not what they are for but this is different.
It's a perfect way to show just how controlable the car is despite having over 900 bhp.
Thank you very much for a absolutely superb video. Thanks to Mclaren part in setting it up too. Like a few people have said I could have watched it for hours! It infinity more engaging when you see how excited and passionate CH is compared to other presenters.
Oh and Chris Goodwin is a racing driver, Mclaren chief test driver not engineer as quite a few people seem to think.
