RE: Lamborghini Huracan - full story

Was so looking forward to this car, the Gallardo replacement, but this leaves me cold.
The front is nice, an evolution of the old car, but the back is just bland. No character at all.
This car could've and should've looked like the Sesto Elemento.
I guess I'd need to see the spyder version before writing it off completely though.

If they made the standard car less bland it would make the SL/Performante look less extreme when those eventually come out. I can see why Lambo do this now as most manufacturers like the leave the spoilers and the extreme rear diffusers etc for the special editions. No manufacturer dumbs down the main bread winning model for the sake of tarted up limited editions later down the line.
They are reportedly sold out for two years anyway, if you believe some posters, so it's academic, but I think Lamborghini have missed a trick here by being conservative.
That's the last critisism you should ever be able to level at a Lamborghini!!

My shorthand for telling Gallardos from Murcielagos were the side intakes--high on Murcis, low on Gallardos. They have flipped that styling cue on their new cars.

Agreed. Another underwhelming new car from Lamborghini as far as I'm concernedThe front is nice, an evolution of the old car, but the back is just bland. No character at all.

Looking at those pictures above they're actually more different than I was expecting.
There was also this Lotus concept. The lambo looks like a mishmash of the two, although I'm not sure if this is an Autocar rendering or was an official picture.I certainly wouldn't say no to one, but I think I'd rather a real R8 than a car based on the R8, unless there's some artificial difference included to hobble the R8, which I can't imagine.

I may be wrong, but to me it looks like Lambo have gone down the same design "language" root that Seat have now done by being a bit edgy. Look at it from the front and I honestly think it looks like a squashed down new shape Seat Leon Cupra?! Anyone else agree? Platform sharing gone too far maybe?
If Seat ever made a super car, this would be it!
Also, taking the swanky new sat nav/dash screens from the upcoming TT and ALL of the future Audis is going to date that car enormously, think in 5 years time when Audi have put it in everything from the A1 to the R8 how common place it will feel?
Maybe I'm wrong and I probably am, but I think Lambo have hit wide of the mark with this one. Too generic, too bland, too samey compared to the soulful 458 and the techy Mclaren which really seem to have moved the game on from the Gallardo days.
At least we know that the next R8 won't look like a Seat!

Nice looking car. I haven't bought into the hexagonal interiors of modern Lambos, for me that design concept reminds me of something a low end brand in the 80s would do to promote image.
I find it odd that the owners seem to be saying pretty clearly that this is a car for people who don't have the money and driving skills to buy a real Lambo. Seems odd to be rolling this out as some kind of disability vehicle.

The inexurable march of Gnerman engineering into most facets of European car making. This comment speaks volumes.
Sole transmission choice is a seven-speed Graziano-supplied dual-clutch (branded Lamborghini Doppia Frizione) that Reggiani insists is not the same as Audi's S Tronic equivalent in the R8, despite Hackenberg begging to differ and the casing bearing Audi rings.
The entire chassis is made in an Audi plant and designed by them. The engine you could aruge is Lambo but for how long. The interior eolectronics will be added to the TT and therefore come from Bosch.
The skin however is Lambo in a slightly dull sort of way.
Next up gutting Aston Martin as well. Does it matter?
I love Ferrari and McLaren precisely because they are not VW underpinned skin jobs but have an entire and seperate philosophy.
Citroen and Renault are at least trying to brush off current dullness and add spice to car designs against the tide of dull black interiors and scissor sharp designs.
The really important part of this is the complete inability for any other country to purchase German companies at all. A level playing field at 45 degrees.

Absolutely stunning, each time I see photos I think it just looks better and better.
Cant wait to see one up close, looks far better than the Aventador to me.
+1 I think the car will look fabulous on the road as an R8 still does 7 years later but more so as it is a much more modern design.Cant wait to see one up close, looks far better than the Aventador to me.
If it was in my price range it would be a straight choice between this and a 458 which I have driven not a McLaren as it is a turbo.
I am very, very happy to say that I genuinely prefer the Mclaren 650S to this car.
Taking aside all instinctive desires to support the local team and a sense of patriotism, I think the 650S is a more attractive, compelling offering.
And that makes me feel very good.
Now all I need is £200k that I cannot think of anything more useful to do with.
