LSD's are more about making something go faster on the exit of a dry corner not make it do 120 mph + on a wet autobahn.
I had a completely different idea as to what LSDs where good for...

The fact is the safer you try to make it to compensate for dumb drivers the dumber those drivers get.
Eeek I hope that doesn't apply to airliners
It does and AF447 is probably the most extreme example of it.

Airfield track day at RAF Marham wink
That makes it worse. An average speed of 50mph at a track day, what was going on? smile

Because it's not the average speed of pure track time is it.....which I thought would be blindingly obvious......

It was also more than just wet. I think it warranted a f for fapping wet. The standing water was really bad when he was sliding it all over chasing the golf. I dont think that track has good run off at all.

Riding a non abs and non tc bike in the wet requires care and a light touch on the controls. It's quite enlightening when you first do it.

The M135i probably had the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on, not exactly the number one choice for a 120 mph run on a runway with standing water in relatively cold weather.

and in addition to that the ESP was clearly disabled (screenshot taken 2 seconds before the actual spin happens)

You have to ask whether manufacturers have grounds to sue programmes like Top Gear for misrepresenting their products in this way? There is a safety feature fitted to the car, and the programme makers disabled it, and then made out that the car was unsafe. Are they not on dodgy legal ground doing something like that?

A spinning BMW is in-line with Joe Public's "knowledge" that BMWs can't be driven in snow or any other low grip situations....

Hoofing a very high performance car on a very wet, non draining track is risky, whatever the car.

I imagine an auto manufacturer suing Top Gear would challenge even Gerald Ratner's PR team.

It's going to be like the whole BMWs/RWD cars can't be driven in the snow hysteria all over again. With good tyres and technique you should be able to drive a modern car in any weather in this country.

You can, and I'd lower the bar to say "reasonable technique". Just not at double the NSL with the T/C turned off and then be surprised at the outcome!
