Someone who drives a classic Rangey round Sloane Square is OK, but if that person buys a modern looking 4x4 they are then ......what??

I somehow doubt that it will feel in anyway different to any x5/6/5GT becasue they're basically the same interior. What is wrong with the Chelsea Tractor?

Because it's a "Chelsea Tractor" If you want to go offroad, fine, then I see the point. But to drive on the road and around towns? Why not buy an estate?
If you want 4wd, buy a 4WD estate?

For a start the 5GT feels like a 7 series but has more practical load space, and it feels noting like the X5 to drive, and for many people they don't like the styling of the X5 but may like the styling of the X6, so that is what they buy. A 4WD estate feels very different, if you prefer a more relaxed, upright driving position then am estate is not going to cut it.
I take from those comments you haven't owned a 5GT, X5, X6 or for that matter a 4WD estate?

The regular Punto feels sharper, if you needed a bigger car why not buy an estate?
Why buy an oversized hatchback and then one that is meant to be sporty?
Why not just buy the basic model with 15" steel wheels and enjoy it for what it is?
Your choice of car makes no sense to me at all.
I drive a Mercedes ML. Why?
Because it is wallowy, comfy, is great for a stereo install, makes me drive slower and can gobble up 3 mountain bikes, myself, my wife and my son and our dog (who is a Weimaraner) without having to have a bike rack put on.
It however could not be classed as 'fun'.
So we tend to have another car as well, currently a 2.8i Z3 that I am doing up.
Unfortunately it is a Cab which spoils it somewhat, but it is raw, quick, appreciating (so I don't mind if it sits not getting used) and very cheap to run and maintain.
If I had to go down to one car, something like the X4, Macan, SQ5, GLA45 would be pretty high on my list, because having had fast estates for the last 15 years (535d, S4, 335i, Brabus E Class etc. etc.) I have found that they are the biggest compromise, they are not a sporty coupe and they are not a nice relaxing raised 4x4, they are about as s
t as they come in regard to shape only beaten by the middle aged, middle management saloon. Although the hot hatch, that is then made much bigger, could well take that top spot thinking about it. 
Of course most of that is tongue in cheek, but I am grateful for all the options when it comes to cars, choice is a great thing, I would hate to have no choice and everyone be driving around in the same sort of thing as each other, which seemed to be the case when I was growing up in the 70s and 80s. It was horrible.

For the record, I do understand why someone would choose an SUV as an everyday car...but the current trend for building the biggest pile of blinged-up junk possible (and I'm not just talking about SUVs) is having a detrimental effect on manufacturers, meaning that us enthusiasts simply can't get the cars we'd like any more.
The original X5 was fine; the X4/6 though? Awful. It tells you a lot about BMW's current direction / who's buying when they'd rather give us the X6M than a N/A manual M5 without speakers playing a fake engine note.
