RE: Alfa Romeo 4C - those headlights
Discussion
I noticed that these lights give the 4C a visual link to the 8C Competezione. It's amazing how much a simple thing like revised headlights can improve the looks of a car.
That said, I cringe every time I see journalists, etc. call the 4C "beautiful". Styling-wise, it looks like they merely grafted an Alfa "face" onto an Elise. It's hard to quantify, but something about the proportions of the 4C just don't look right, either. There are also some rather awkward details, like the side vents.
Seeing how all these journalists are calling it "beautiful" makes me think that, subconsciously, we all want it to be beautiful, since it's the first "enthusiast" Alfa in years. It reminds me of how, in America, all Ferraris are regarded as "beautiful", mainly by non-car-guys. "It's Italian, so it must be beautiful, right?"

Looks a million times better with the new lights (although I agree about the earlier comments with the lights from the 159 etc which looked superb).
I can see that plastic on the first-gen cars looking absolutely minging in a very short amount of time and if I were in the market for a £50k coupé, I'd rule the Alfa out on the ugly lights alone I'm afraid and be heading to the nearest Porsche dealer for a Cayman.

I'm not sure how you could fit three lights onto the front of a 4c. And it is "Should HAVE" not "should of"
Don't let it get to you man, just keep up your own standards and be safe in the knowledge that the internet is turning everyone else into dummies They ought to fill all the lot in and put some pop ups in the bonnet.Given the fact that a fair number of these cars will be sold for posing points rather than driving competence, Alfa really should pay attention and switch to the new light housing.
I mean how much would it cost, really, to change them?
Change the lights, sell 10% more cars surely?
Or at the very least offer them as an optional upgrade and most people will tick that box, making even more money for Alfa.

Volvo did a transverse straight six, but I can't think of anyone else who has done such a thing, and certainly not to retro-fit in to a car desgned around a transverse straight 4.
There have been a few transverse V12s, which I suppose is much the same. I think a V6 would fit much better. kambites said:

I'd wager to guess though that the current headlights' looks would be a lot more palatable if they were body colour...
I agree. Now we just need someone to do that in photoshop...Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
