I am also very confused by this. V-spec, I see from your profile you live in Belgium so please elaborate as I'm interested.
Surely the following document states that TMC for the S8 would be EUR4,957 and not 50k+ as you state:

Funnily enough me too! On the Brussels Ring. On normal Belgian plates. He would have paid 100 euro per bhp to register it. That's more than 50k in tax!
How does that work?Surely this would make even the sttiest cars massively expensive?

If you would want to register a car with this kind of engine brand new right now you would be paying double this amount.
The Belgian tax system for cars is crazy (and changing all the time).
However there are still some holes in the system, which make that I've payed "only" 1040€ in taxes for the Noble :-P
I’m currently in Guam, Micronesia for a Christmas/New Year break...
If you've never heard of Guam I'm not that surprised - it's an American dependency of about 150,000 people, approx. 2,600 kms from Japan, approx. 2,500 kms from the Philippines and approx. 2,100 kms from Papua New Guinea. There's a large US military base, beautiful white sand beaches with lagoon blue seas, and…err...well, not a lot else.
So I wasn't expecting to see much in the way of supercars or rarities.
But in the secure parking of a beachfront apartment block I found these two...
A 308GTS QV and W113 SL Mercedes:
As far as I can work out, there is only one prestige car dealer in Guam which sells BMW, Land-Rover, Lexus and Subaru. There definitely isn't any Ferrari distributor, nor does there seem to be any Mercedes agent.
Nor Porsche. So I was amazed to find this rather unloved Strosek Porsche 964 Speedster sat outside different apartment block. It doesn’t appear to have moved in over 2 1/2 years and clearly has rust and bodywork damage:
A quick google suggests it may be this former Californian car:
I guess servicing, repairs and obtaining parts must be a challenge, but a shame to see the 964 gradually rotting away…

I'd heard of Guam before but never knew where it was - talk about being bang smack in the middle of nowhere! No wonder that Porsche is rotting away - getting hold of parts must be a nightmare!
In Europe, that thing would be worth an absolute fortune. Maybe you should try contacting the owner to see if he'd let you buy it off him and then ship it to Europe? I know it would cost a fortune but that is potentially a six figure car just rotting away.
