Beautiful

....but isn't the front wheel arch gap unnaturally large even considering it's on a lift? How has that got so much suspension travel? ...and if working on the suspension, why is the wheel still on?

Just puzzled.
It's on a four post ramp, the wheels are not supported.
Yes I got that, but still seems a hell of a suspension travel. I've seen my 640d on a for post ramp and the wheels didn't drop a quarter as much?

Sorry for naff photo, best I could do when stopped at the roundabout.. Pretty rare to see one in the wild.. followed him for ages, sounded amazing!

Virtual cookie if anyone can identify the village/town, and which garage he is about to pull into! smile

I'm pretty sure that's Pangbourne. Is there still a Bentley dealership there?
Definitely Pangbourne, heading to either the Bentley or Lambo garage?

Interestingly, that's a replica, probably by a now defunct company called Tri-Tech. Powered by some sort of scooter engine and gearbox.

Sauce: my father has a few Messerschmitts.

You can add Aston Martin to that list as well.

You know what, fk the car (even though it's awesome), you need some serious kudos for the photography.

How long does it take to be able to take photos like that? Do you need a billion £ of equipment / software?
haha thanks i appreciate it, my equipment is old as hell but does the job
Nikon D200 body... 10 - 11 years old now
18-200 nikkor mark 2 with a polariser

and edited in lightroom and photoshop, doesnt take that long in terms of editing, but ive been doing it years so i can be pretty quick with it, i think the editing is the main part to getting them looking that good.

He seems to use a Nikon D200 so no you don't need loads of fancy equipment, nowadays you can be pretty sloppy with your camera as long as you can use photoshop. Not saying he is sloppy with his camera though of course but the photos look to be a case of some decent editing, more evident on the top pic.
your right, old cameras do the job just as well if you know what your doing editing wise.
not sloppy with taking the pictures but the editing is where the goodness comes from =)

heres the raw image before editing.

i made it black and white, added the colour splash, blacker blacks, whiter whites and some clarity
may have a vignette too cant remember

Danny, thanks for taking the time to come back. Just goes to show you don't need to go nuts and get the most expensive equipment; eBay has lots of Nikon D200s for less than £150.

I assume Photoshop is the editing software de-rigeur? Is there a cheaper version that's more suitable for beginners use (or it is worth doing it properly and getting the full thing)?

yeah doesnt have to be photoshop, never used gimp myself but others do nothing wrong with it

if you wanna test it out, i'm sure you can get photoshop month long trail, i think lightroom is the one to get

i use lightroom for the bulk of the editing and photoshop for clean up and more advanced bits

"Now the sunset breezes shiver,
Téméraire! Téméraire!
And she's fading down the river,
Téméraire! Téméraire!"

Had to see a man about a dog. Ended up in Gillingham for the day.

Drizzly as the weather may be, I always find a lazy, non time-bound blast out into the countryside as something to enjoy. We live in a world that is fast-forwarding quicker than Moore could think of a new law.

From sail to steam, the transition could be measured in decades. Most of the 19th century perhaps. In the late 20th century, there was around fifteen years between when devices like Minitel could let someone in Lyon buy a train ticket through the telly, and Netscape giving you the ability to readily scroll through Jenny McCarthy's latest cover shoot for Playboy. Now in 15 minutes the market cap of a Fortune 500 can be halved off the back of a 30 character tweet.

How things change.

So in the age of the Tesla, with it's navigation screen bigger than the sunroof on a mid-90s Peugeot, I find a quick blast down the road a simple pleasure to savour: to drop the windows slightly, wait for the traffic to clear, and let a powerful engine roar.

But when parking up, amidst all the 'BlueMotions' and 'EcoBoosts' and 'Hybrids', the feeling pervaded of leaving a grand old ship of the line amidst a school of nascent ironclad frigates. A feeling only exacerbated by seeing U-475 lying broken-backed and rusting in the Medway on the silently gliding train that took me back.

But a future of gigawatt powered surge versus V8/10/12 utilising an organic compound fractionally distilled....for me is a little way off. Ha, maybe there's no fool quite like a romantic car fool smile

But after reading and taking in all the many months of talk of the latest batch of supercars - please no one mention the awful sounding 'Holy Trinity'! - the Ferrari, the McLaren and the Porsche, inevitably I've had a wonder as to which is my favourite. The P1 has such an effervescent rear deck. The styling of the rear light structures and the spoiler are genuinely interesting. But with the ant-eating fore and an unambitious mid section, I think a Huayra runs rings around it when it comes to garage stance.

The LaFerrari has some wonderfully florid wing mirrors, but the whole effect is as if a 458 is wriggling through the time~space continuum.

People more knowledgeable may beg to differ, but from my understanding the 918's hybrid solution is the most progressive and impactful in terms of application. But one feature alone, the exhausts jutting out of the rear hatch, canted at some obtuse degree, stirs the car lover's soul like no other. Squint and its the only one where I still see an old-fashioned hot rod.

Blah...

A Superformance Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe MKII. I distinctly remember the car magazines reviewing Hi-Tech's recreation a few years back, and off the top of my head I guess this is that very press car. A Chevy V8 block, the weight of a marlin and a killer body that looks like a fresh Roy Lichtenstein sketch.

Parked next to an S-Line it did look three, four generations out. But it still looked better.

"There's a far bell ringing
At the setting of the sun,
And a phantom voice is singing
Of the great days done.....

...Téméraire! Téméraire!

Someone posts the above and the first reply is a dig at a few day old post. Sad times. Cra1g, why don't you check and tell us the value of the number plate?
A welcome return Mr. koi, interesting as always. Technology moves apace far faster than most car lovers can keep up with for sure. I'm still dreaming of w140s and I'm only 32!

Really...

Not so super, but odd. I spotted a large silver Mercedes barge, just sitting there with the engine idling, smoke exiting the exhaust. The weird bit was it was on the back of a breakdown truck I was following.
