it's a bit off that the Alpina signature paint colour is two and half grand, when the 'base' model is such a vast amount of money already. I mean it's cool and everything but i'd want to be able to match my own colour for free for that kind of money.

Can't be many of these left....

Lovely, and an early one
370 odd left and I would imagine the rest rusted away a long time ago

The welding in the footwell of my boss's F40 made me wince a little when it arrived at work.
I read somewhere that somebody asked Gordon Murray, when he was developing the McLaren F1, what he thought of the Ferrari F40 and his reply was something like "Nobody at McLaren can weld that badly!". biggrin
Out of the two, I know which I would rather have, bad welds and all.
Behave! The F40 is a masterstroke. The F1 is perfection.

It was nice to see this out and about in Mansfield today.

Good to see one that gets used properly, looks good covered in dirt.

Nice to see another Mansfield based PH member
+2, Langwith. Although Southwell born and bred.

And such a crap drive.
I've never driven one but as i understand it you're not far off the mark. I did nearly buy one when prices were rock bottom though.
I owned one as my first Ferrari. Nearly put me off the marque. The 355 GTS and spider I had next repaired the damage.
reflected in the values
Very much so.
Funny, reading back at contemporary road tests it was rated very highly. Obviously not as reliable nor user-friendly as the NSX but driving wise it was razor sharp.

Seemingly gained it's bad reputation after Di Montezemolo slagged it off to make a point that he was going to change how things were done and the legend of it being ste has grown from there.

Obviously owners are unlikely to be unbiased when speaking about them but they do tend to be positive in almost every case so they certainly can't be that bad.

The 355 afterwards was if I remember correctly, much better but the steering feel was completely lost which would I suspect, dull the experience a little.

I'd love a 348 GTC at the very least, proper rarity loveliness.

Seriously love the look of that car, you don't see many like that on the s/h market either sadly

if you do then it will come with the alpina premium anyway. It is awesome, but if we are talking future barge thread 'victims' then the M760Li xDrive TT V12 is what i'm setting my sights on!!! It's got a similar altitude to fall from, but will fall faster smile

Did a bit of Googling on that De Tomasa; some angles it looks great, others it looks awful.
