RE: Time For Tea? TVR Tuscan V8
Discussion
The engine conversion on the car was performed by Warren and the team at Topcats Racing.
As has been said by a few on here, it's not just an engine swap there is a lot of fabrication needed, changes to parts, the wiring and much more.
Topcats have done a lot of these conversions now and each one is unique, given how no two TVR ever seemed to leave the factory exactly the same each conversion has its particular nuances.

It's a lovely sound but it's not what a Tuscan should sound like to me.

Sound, yes ok the S6 sounds better at full chat but people are missing some important points here. The LS can rev from cold, is totally unstressed, can be tuned/ mod'd easily up to 600 HP without too much hassle and is emissions compliant. My S6 cars sounded like a bag of spanners from cold until warm so most of my driving was done below 3000 RPM and not that much fun. I swapped my Tuscan S2 for a griff as I just couldn't put up with the compromised practicality of the S6.
I can see why someone who isn't too fussed about the clear difference in noise but wants a more practical (and cheaper in the long run) TVR would go for the conversion.
Looks and sounds great in the video. Congrats to the owner.
I have to warm my AJP8 up before thrashing it too. It's not a hardship. I'd love to see the payback period for a V8 conversion to become cheaper than maintaining a Speed Six!I can see why someone who isn't too fussed about the clear difference in noise but wants a more practical (and cheaper in the long run) TVR would go for the conversion.

I'd been considering doing this to a Cerbera, however having heard this I'm disappointed. It doesn't suit the character of the car at all .
I'd also do something about the rear boxes - they look daft.

There is no better engine on the market for this application

Seriously why would you, especially when you can have a 400bhp Tvr S6 with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty for less than £10k
8200 rpm in a speed-6 engined race car vs 8300 rpm in a standard S54-engined remapped road car? Plus you could buy a crashed M3 for a lot less than £10k.To add to this I have a Vauxhall Monaro LS2 V8 (6L) with a Wortec cat-back system fitted. It sounds identical to the car on this clip. The problem is that listening over a laptop or cheap computer speakers never does these LS engines justice. They sounds much better in the flesh and very nice from in the cabin!

Indeed. And I had a look at this car close up at a meet in Cambridge laste last year. It's a total credit to it's owner, and leagues ahead of any production TVR in build quality, execution and design.
If TVR had built them all like this, they wouldn't have dissapeared.
Moses exhausts, seems they can part water. Great idea in the interim.
Some regular scaffolding pipes would be even better they don't seem to fit. However the rest of the car looks great and it sounds pretty good. All credit to him and certainly better to do this than let it rot somewhere. So mods are of benefit.

not the sound that I expected...
but very nice though a big LS engine in a TVR.
I like this kind of LS sound more, also the silencers look different/better in this one?

I think though, I can see why the car in the OP appeals. Whilst the Speed Six sings, the V8 bellows. Ultimately, flat-out (on track ideally), there is something delectably menacing about the V8 - both RV8 and LS - that is hard to resist. Certainly the look of the car is fantastic - those wheels really suit it.
