Government seems to spend a lot of effort clamping down speeding and mobile phone use while driving.

When are they going to get these anti-social things off the road?

Never seen one being ridden by anyone other than an irresponsible fkwit driving like a complete and utter loon.

They are only ridden on the roads by two sorts of person

- farmers with the mandatory sheepdog on the back; and

- Anti social chav tts.

The second have no business driving these things around on the road.

Will that be just after they ban smoke emanating from fires?

Ban?! I never saw a chav (on a quad bike) outside the city limits.
These things are a lot of fun (off road).

They could have a carve out - those wearing brown or green clothing, wellies and with a dog on the back are ok.

Seriously, they don't need to ban anything - merely apply existing laws about dangerous/ wreckless/careless driving to get of them.

They are already very heavily regulated as it is.
They have heavy power restrictions.
Ive never seen one crashed, so until i do, im not overly worried.
Said chav will only move into a heavier and more lethal car anyway.

Edit: Did i use the word heavy enough?

Great farm/utility/off-road muckabout vehicles. Why anyone would want to take on on the public road though is beyond me. Completely unfit for this purpose.

Only experience I have of them was a youngish lad that used to own one & lived in a neighbouring road to me a good 3 or 4 years ago. It mainly seemed to be pulled out early evening & came home anywhere between 11pm-1am every day but only during the times when uni students were back home / on hols.

Judging by the noise he'd fitted an unsilenced exhaust and enjoyed revving it a lot to create some noise, so I guess after a while his neighbours had enough as one night Surrey Police had 2 cars waiting for him on the road at the back of my house & he got stopped. Never heard the quad again after that night.

Some proper clowns on these in Wolverhampton. Ridiculous exhaust which are stupid loud, no safety gear.

And looking at other members of the public as they like an audience, so don't pay attention to the road.

Do away with them

What an absolutely stupid OP.

I saw a rather smartly dressed chap pulling away from the petrol station on one last weekend. Had a little chuckle with the chap at the next pump, who was also a bit of a petrolhead.

So that's two votes in favour of the 'anti-social' monstrosities.

(plus the chap on it, so that's three)

I think that the "ban" mentality should be banned.

There are probably more people wanting fast cars to be banned than there are drivers wanting ATVs to be banned.

Thank God democracy is imperfect.

Nope. They're a nuisance, driven irresponsibly by the type of people who don't give a toss about you, me or the police.

Surely they offer all of the disadvantages of a motorbike (being on the "outside") but none of the advantages (being narrow and manoeuvrable)?

I thin miserable narrow minded killjoy s should be banned from society. Sadly that will never be the case.

Hang on, I thought it was horses we were banning? Quads must be ok surely, they've got engines.
So confusing.

So they're a bit noisy?? And the horrid loud noises make it seem like they're going to fast? Twenty's plenty?
