It does look mightily handsome in Midnight Blue. How much would be involved in putting a 5.6 under the bonnet if one came up?

Congrats! Great news. You gonna tell the Mrs?
One day. It's all about timing and presentation! Paint shop and valeters first She'll never find it there! laugh
Excellent! Well done!

I can barely buy myself a Mars Bar and a packet of crisps without my wife knowing!

I'm surprised you health-care professionals are allowed to even consider such a thing!

A colour fail, surely? Makes a German taxi look classy.

Nice car though.
That's what I love most about it!

That is seriously tempting! If only it wasn't in Peterborough, it'd be a serious impulse buy!

May only be a 420 but looks gorgeous!
That is fricking magnificent. Anyone point me in the direction of a buyers guide for these beasts?

(All these barge talk is/has delayed me ordering a new C63. My wife cannot understand why I drool over a 25yr old shed when I could have the latest/greatest Merc sitting on my drive in 2 weeks. I must be bonkers)

That car is very much cooler than just about anything Mercedes makes these days*. That old car surely says a lot more about the man that would drive such a thing than any anonymous blinged-up modern.

Midnight blue is a fantastic colour. You might have to invest in a polisher and some expensive cloths... Those solvent-based solid colours polish up superbly.

5.6? Take the old one out, put the new one in. But if it's all running sweetly, I wouldn't bother. I did it because it was about ⅓ the price of rebuilding the heads of my lumpy 5.0.

Congratulations on the purchase! I take it it's the one from a few pages back?

Looking forward to seeing some pictures and hearing your thoughts once you have some miles covered. As nice as a 560 motor would be surely you'll find a 5 litre V8 adequate smile

I'm impressed by the 'looking' to 'buying' ratio seen recently on this thread. No messing about here!!

A rare beast indeed - can't remember how many iX models came to the UK but you'd be lucky to see another on the road. Thought about one of these a few years ago but the two I looked at after a lot of searching both had issues with the double-sunroof which is a bugger to sort. Ended up with a W124 instead so not all bad.

This one looks fantastic even though the colour wouldn't be my first choice...

Coincidentally, I had to pop out of the office during lunch today and parked up outside a few feet away from the entrance door was one of these (in the exact same spec):

As I opened the office door, I actually did a little yikes when I saw it

Does anyone know what they're like as a dealer? It looks like they don't hold much stock, so quite a small outfit?

Congratulations! I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to hear what it's like as an ownership proposition.

Congrats and putting a 5.6 in was my first thought when I looked at it!

I think I prefer the saloon to the coupe, I should have bought one. In fact this is probably the car I should have bought rather than my wreck of a 560 SEC, what was I thinking!

Is it that bad? I know you can hide a lot with photos. Maybe it is, and I was just attracted to the shiny-ness!

I know little about these, but thought that looked OK.
