How many of the V8 S8's came with full electric rear seats? Are they a good alternative to a high spec E38 BMW?
Very, very rare. Some have electric lumbar adjustment in the rear, but fully electric is rocking horse poo rare. The A8 4.2 with S8 upgrades that's done the rounds of a few owners including I think one in this thread(?) had retrofit fully electric rears from a car in Germany

You're probably going to have more chance of finding a really high spec E38 tbh. Might be worth looking out for an A8 or S8 4.2 but even then I think you might struggle. Heated rears were fairly common option, although mine doesn't have them as the Final Editions were a fixed spec from the factory, although most aren't standard now!

Very rare. Partly because the clever seats were about £5500 from memory, and partly because the kind of chap to convince himself he needed clever rear seats generally bought an S-Class, when the kind of chap to buy an S8 was generally sat up-front, frowning though his Oakleys.

I should clarify my slightly disparaging comments relate to the Corporate Superstars (to whom we all owe so much) (PBUT) who bought the cars new.

Not the gentlemen of rare taste and fiscal perspicacity who choose to run them now.

Tempted to go and have a look at this - any tips on what I should check beyond the obvious?

Caught my eye but it seems seriously over-priced given the smaller engine, poverty spec, unappealing (tho I like them) colours, fruit machine stereo and the seller's rep. But still.

If you could either post them here or send a PM that would be great.

I take it you've been to see the car? What were your impressions and what did you think needed doing. Let's hope it's still available.

I wonder what the aftermarket M badge on the right rear wing indicates?

Probably says more about the previous owner than the spec of the car. biggrin

Having passed the car once or twice over the past couple of days, I posted this in the Bargain Basement thread:

Saw this on the way back from collecting my car from the garage this afternoon. The cardboard in the windscreen has £800 written on it.

After a quick look, it looks pretty rust-free, and in decent nick. The tax expired at the end of Jun so the owner might be open to further haggling. It's in Mytchett, near Farnborough.

If anyone is interested, I can give a precise location.

Usual disclaimer - vendor/car nothing to do with me.
As I walked away, a nice chap approached me to see if I was interested in a Jag. He runs the house clearance place nearby and saw me taking pictures. Anyway, he showed me phone pictures of an A reg XJ6. It has 80,000 miles, with full Jag SH, 6 months tax and MOT remaining. He's had it for 6 months, and is the second owner. It apparently has a little rust, but is otherwise in good shape. He's after £1500 for it.

This is a google image, but it's this model I think, in white with black vinyl roof.

Happy to pass details if anyone was interested.

That is the Zenith of BMW styling to me. The perfect 7 series.

These E32s and also E34s are amongst my favourite BMWs, understated class. Though a late, sport E39 5er is fantastic with the right colour combo.

Too much gassing and not enough barges being posted chaps....

Strong money, but not many left with this sort of mileage.

That's ridiculous VFM at £3-3.5k. Great find, as usual Edo.
Ta. I may get me a barge after the 6 series goes back end of August, just a bit early for me presently!
