What about this old 'un. Preferred spec for me- pre facelift and SE so more comfortable on the UK's terrible roads. Alleged 1 owner car and sadly from a trader but there must be some haggle room in there. Interesting spec as well.

Leaves you quite a few grand over other cars for maintenance as well.

Horrible colour, inside and out and not sure about the chrome... BUT - That's cracking mileage and a great price! This is a dog car, not a posing pouch so that may very well work if it's as good as it sounds - may well have a look at that!

The E39 looks great to me but let the BMW beards on here pronounce. The 550... mot so much. They don't wear the miles well do they? Try a W124 before you make up your mind.
Interesting about the 550 and I will have a look for W124s then smile

Agreed it's vile-paint is the same colour as mine biggrin At least mine's black inside though.

Haggle them down a bit and you've got the perfect canine conveyance.

I also like the fact it looks like it will be pathetically slow but will still out accelerate 75% of stuff on the roads.

Bit more than 75%, when you look around the actual contents of the average supermarket car park.

Cr@p, thought the paint looked ok in the pictures - actually quite liked it. Assume its more offensive in the flesh!

I didn't buy my car to look at it anyway and assume anyone wanting a canine conveyance would have a similar attitude. The colour is not so much offensive as just a bit crap looking.

Think this one might be a slightly different shade than my car which is 894M Chiaretto Red according to the build sheet.

At this end of the market and assuming the car is a tool rather than something to wash, wax and stare at on the driveway I'd happily sacrifice colour and specification for something like my car which was in A1 condition mechanically.

Agree with that! Stuck in London this weekend, literally!

Hopefully it will still be there next week!

Can't find the post but someone put this E320 up the other day.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C520456

Firstly, can't help thinking how nice it would be to have for occasions.

Secondly, how I'd love to have it side by side with this http://www.4starclassics.com/BMW-E34-540i-For-Sale... in a 'modern classics' stable.

Shame I've never found any of these really cheap Classic policies people mention.

That 550 is unbelievably cheap. However it is for sale from a breaker's yard so I'm presuming it's a shed with issues? Not seen a 550 Touring under 11k before, and I keep an eye out.

Good morning barge fans...
The next Pistonheads South East GTG at Redhill Aerodrome has been announced, sign-up at this thread for Tuesday 19th Aug

Sounds like it's going to be a special one due to access being granted air-side so we can get close to some of the special planes and helicopters in the hangers.

I'm planning to go in my 124 estate - will I be a lone barge pilot amongst the exotica?

I won't be there this month - on family hols in Cornwall for 2 weeks. Hope we get the same setup for September or I'll really feel like I've missed out!

That was me that posted that car.

Here's the post:

I viewed a car at the weekend, and the chap has so far sold 3 of his late father-in-law's cars. Two remain, the one I viewed and this:

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C520456

I understand it's had a new head gasket, amongst other work.

Looks quite nice in these colours I thought:

I've just insured my E34 525i for £160/yr with good other terms on a Classic Policy with a bit of searching.

W124 Twin Turbo barge coming up for auction. The guide price is within budget, at least. This one is fairly stealthy apart from the wheels.

My classic policy for the Pagoda was under £200 for the year, and was with Admiral of all people on an agreed value.

It has had standard wheels on it all the many times it has appeared for sale here before for a couple of years...

What's the story with it Z, do you know?

Not to my taste at all, but I'd be surprised if there isn't any love for it; makes me wonder if there is something more sinister at play?

No "story" beyond almost total obscurity so far as I know. Seen it a few times, running and driving, respectably tidy thing.

The devil in me says to lease an NA C63 AMG before large, NA engines are no more but I thought I'd look at buying outright for similar money to the lease deposit.

Wow. Double take! I've been loitering around here looking at big old Mercs since my trusty (not really) P38 decided to call it day. Went through looking, and driving, all the cars you have on the list, plus some you should have.

I finally ordered a contract hire C63 Estate for 500 a month, arrives in a few weeks.
