2006 C6 2.7 HDi for £3600. The bonnet definitely needs the lacquer tended to, and the missing service history would be a huge worry. For the very brave only, but as cheap as I've seen one of these. Interesting that the advert says it's in Byker, and the description says Gateshead. Valley Drive definitely isn't in Byker. Otherwise, looks tidy.

The one and only charming barge of the last 10 years?
(Alfa 166 possible exception?)

Good luck but travelling a long way to look at a 210 is not a good idea! They have a nasty habit of looking half decent in photos but in reality being totally rotten with bubbling to every edge and seam.
Bodywork repairs can just mean a tonne of filler and a dust over so check as you would a classic.
Putting a deposit down was brave too! Fingers crossed for you chap.
There's a one-owner E55 for sale at the moment which claims to be rust free, but even on the pictures you can see it creeping up from the bottom edges of the doors...Bodywork repairs can just mean a tonne of filler and a dust over so check as you would a classic.

The W140 looks better and better to my eyes especially in that colour combination (though I am a generally a 'green' car fan in the colour sense of the word). I think it's that cars have been getting bigger and brasher so the W140 looks reasonably restrained in comparison. Why the dual fire extinguishers though??!

Am I right in thinking that the 2.7 diesel C6 is also in the mega-wonga VED bracket? (just a gram or two too high I seem to recall).
Post 2006 verry nasty - but Jag S type/XJ/Cit C5/ Pug 407/ not affected but LRDisco/RRSport are http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/road-tax-guid...

I know, I've always dismissed w210 on the basis of rust however I've done as much homework on this particular car as possible and the seller has been very honest and straight forward to deal with. Worst case I'll walk away and go back to Heathrow and book a flight using my deposit to pay for it. Bodywork repairs can just mean a tonne of filler and a dust over so check as you would a classic.

I pick this up on Monday, I've had a look over it and it looks to be in good nick but you never can tell properly until you get it home for a thorough clean! Fingers crossed.
Braver man than me! Had one in the past and it was a love/hate thing. How about a brace of rather nice red Rangies? Love the sheep skin in the back.

Ha ha, didn't notice that. Bit paranoid. I did 100miles in a w140 tonight, driving over to Kielder reservoir and back, tough, narrow, winding roads all the way. 140 too big, too heavy and too ready to bottom out. Still like the green one.
I guess it's the wrong car for that kind of journey. What engine variant?cat220 said:

Strangely enough I've been looking at these lately (looking at a bad winter/potentially moving into a more rural locale as an excuse ) and marvelling at the prices and how even the late nineties/early 2000 models still look recent in the style department (barring sun bleached external plastics). How about a brace of rather nice red Rangies? Love the sheep skin in the back.
This looks nice... 1998 E320
Other than rust, what Bork is there on these?

Want! Surely that could be had for £3.5k?
I'm looking for something to lug around a few mountain bikes- that looks ideal. Few miles per year so dont care its a petrol.
Anyone on here got one of these?
