Def. no chance of 27 ave. hehe my 540 OBC showed an average of 18 mpg, that was mainly round town driving, think I managed an average of 29 on a longish run with cruise set at 80.
Looking at the official figures, the x50i engine is supposed to be a good 10% better. I average about 16mpg - urban, short journeys.

ETA perhaps more of an accurate pointer is my old 528 which barely managed 20 and if I'm being honest was probably doing far less most of the time.
my 530 averaged 24 over 15,000 miles.

That's what my 550 is averaging, although it is a manual.

My E39 530i Touring (manual) has an overall average of 31 mpg over the last 5000 miles, varying between a worst tank of 25mpg hustling around the Cornish lanes, and slightly over 40mpg on a 60 mph A-road economy run.

Pah, it's only money, when I had my E32 750 the OBC very rarely showed double figures! And I was running a SIII Jag at the same time, just doing my bit for the environment hehe

I have another car for when I only want to get 17mpg, which is quite often, but for 20k miles a year of work, driving the kids to nursery, and so on something with some semblance of economy is needed. Luckily I'm old enough to think that anything over 30mpg is frugal, so as long as I can get close to that on a run I can get away with it domestically smile

These economy figures are making me feel a bit better hehe

After the trip to and from North Wales and seeing 350 miles of fairly hard driving on a long trip (well, hard for a 1.2) and cruising near its max speed for some periods it still got over 40mpg I did think Blimey, or save a fortune.

Drove the 745i again and thought Meh, this is a much nicer proposition biggrin

Diesels are a bit rubbish if not driven at constant speed on the motorway. I can't recall exactly, but our 18 month average in a E61 525d was definitely sub 30 mpg.

Barge Collective,

Currently looking at estate slush boxed barges for the impending arrival and combined ferrying of it and the hound.

I have had my head turned by a Mk1 Volvo V70 2.4 petrol auto. I have read that the Mk2 V70/S80 auto boxes are a ticking timebomb. Does the same apply to the Mk1 V70 or is it a differnt box entirely? Also, is there anything Bork-tastic I should be looking for on the the Mk1 and walking away from?

As always, many thanks in advance.

Keep telling yourself that hehe

How many miles per year do you do HR? I seem to recall you doing a lot in the E38?

Hopefully getting some prices for new tyres and other bits and bobs later as I look to get a few minor niggles sorted.... There is some increased wear to the outer edges of the front tyres, what's the likely cause anyone?

Cheers.

That was in an old job down Slough way. I've done 25k in the E61 in 20 months.

You go round corners and roundabouts too fast.

Ah, sounds about right hehe

How long do you get out of your front and rear tyres? What are you currently running and would you get them again?

Thanks again

Audi B7 quattros, in either 2.0TFSI or 3.2 form. Any good? An engaging steer?

I know the answer to this already don't I?!

No chance of 27ish mpg average is there?
Basically no. I think in mixed driving you'd probably average low 20s at best. It might sneak up to 30 on an individual run if you cruise at 65-70 on the motorway.

Just LPG it. It'll pay for itself in 6 months, and then save you the value of the car every year after that.

It's brill. Honestly.
