No fault found with diagnostics on the car.... Though not sure how good their kit is. They couldn't reproduce the problem but the roads around here don't really allow for full throttle really so no big surprise. I'll just drive it sensibly until I get it looked at by my indy, which it's already booked in for!

Tomorrow is Jaguar day. As much as I'm not looking forward to the boring ardure of travel, I'm desperately excited about the XJ 4.0. I might sleep in it when I get home.

Congratulations! Magnificent machines.

If the car doesn't have them already, be sure to get an under bonnet tool kit and cup, holder arm rest to complete the experience.

Make the light go away and add 12 months ticket and I'd be with you.

Yes on reflection the amount of work the owner has done, yet the light problem still remains, is a little worrying. As a saloon it's probably worth less as well (but I like them myself!)

Cool car. Was inches away from buying one of these a couple of years ago and missed out in it. As a former Volvo owner, I remember the pain in the arse it was keeping those ripple effect plastic bumpers nourished.

The ABS modules do go on these. Only £50 for a repaired unit. When fixed the light goes out.

Curious that the light comes on. May be a loose sensor. No need to panic, all bits are cheap.

This thread got me looking at 124's having spent the last 2 months looking for a decent US spec w211 e350 ad drawing a blank,

What are peoples thoughts on this?
http://www.gieldaklasykow.pl/mercedes-e420-w124-19...

Is this a rarity or just a run of the mill w124 JDM spec w124 with a bodykit? Theres a pretty nice looking pillarless coupe on there too. (Excuse the Polish they all seem to speak foreign here) Both are slightly over thread budget at around 5500 but i'm sure there's some negotiation to be done.

Really tempted but with a house purchase on the horizon and a wedding to pay for maybe a 22 year old Merc is a bad idea smile On the flip side it could be a fantastic idea as theres probably zero depreciation to worry about.
I really like that biggrin
Me too- I love this AMG era... I'd quite like to put something a little like this together myself actually

I love that!

Though at work today we were discussing "what car would you have as a daily driver if money was no object" and I caused confusion and furrowed brows by saying a W124 hammer (the 4 door)!

I can quite imagine... The guys at my place are the same. Only my boss 'gets' it, he has a last of the line 911 (964) Turbo... And a g-whiz. Maybe he doesn't get it on reflection.

Anyway, I keep coming back to the idea of a 124 and transplanting a 5.4 non supercharged AMG V8 into it... Some period AMG split rims and ambers all round. No idea if it's even possible but I want one! My local Mercedes specialist didn't even call me back after I contacted them- perhaps it's a sign

Edited to add the pic below: something like this although perhaps a little less aggressive looking

Always quite liked these, but that drivers seat looks like it has covered more than 121k.... Hmmmm

I fully support you in this project! 5.4 AMG engine, naturally aspirated... why not do it with a 4 door W124?

I just really like the pillarless factor that the coupe offers. It would have to have a sunroof also. I know they aren't as stiff as the saloon and a fair bit heavier, but just my preference. It won't be happening for a few months yet so plenty of time to change my mind 500+ times (at least!)

Definitely, but like I say won't be for a few months yet as apparently a roof over one's head is more important. Not sure I agree but there we go!

Over budget, but I'd be tempted by this.

http://dubai.dubizzle.com/motors/used-cars/mercede...

7 grand odd in real money.
