Or, just within thread budget, the *second* coolest car ever, the CX GTI Turbo

That is a very cool thing.

I need a DS. It's my new wife's favourite car and just lovely. I also think they'll be worth a fair bit one day too.

Love that. My wife would serve my balls to the cats if I bought it though.

How on Earth is WRA 9Y worth £5k? I suppose a chap named Ray might fancy it, but 5K? Really?

I far prefer the CX to the DS - I just don't quite like the latter's styling, whereas the CX is beautiful to my eyes. I'd want an earlier Prestige or Pallas though; I prefer them to the GTI.

Number plate valuations on car ads seem to be reached by thinking of a number, then doubling it.

It's a bit close to Rapy for my liking.

Passed one of these on the M1 tonight; it was about an inch off the road, bouncing up and down like a good un. Driver looked sick as a chip. Presumably the suspension Bork we're all warned of.
Sounds like they had it in service mode! The Citroen suspension system is hardly new and, really, has less to fix on it than most conventional systems.

The bork prone thing on that is the 2.7 engine which is bork prone whether it is in a Citroen, Pug, Jag or Land Rover.

Looks tidy to me. Rust the big issue and those wheels don't look original

Got the '55 back this morning. £1894 lighter. It feels.....

.....Largely the same.

List of work and parts goes onto 2 pages.... Nice addition to the history file (I do like a nice A4 folder of history).

Thumbs up to the dealer. Tim Purslow. Thoroughly nice chap, lots of kit and a lovely clean workshop. Honestly showed me round everything they found, gave me their courtesy car (14 plate C220) for 3 days as it was easier for me to drop back today. Gave me a heap of discount on parts and didn't charge me for some of the minor things. Will certainly be using again - added bonus being that with the family history it's practically a main dealer.

Next thing on the 'to do' is waxoyl the underside prior to this winter.

In the nicest way possible, you're mental!

Still must feel good to get a full refresh done and now be driving knowing that its in good health.

It's kind of par for the course with me. Spend a fortune that I'll never see back, get bored of the car and sell it so somebody else gets the benefit.

To be fair though, what else can you do? I could probably have saved a vast amount doing it myself but it all needed doing so I was faced with bin the car off after just 3 weeks knowing it needed a load of work and loose money that way or bite the bullet and keep it.

The car stands me at £5700. When you put it like that, what else would I rather have? I still can't afford an E46 M3 or an E39 M5. Both of which can easily throw 4 figure bills.

And Reg Transfers are the worst offenders. Ask them to write a cheque if they really believe it's worth £5k....hardly into four figures, IMO. And if the seller really believed that, why would he be 'giving away' the car?

Yep. My point being that I could of spent my £6000 on an M3 or M5 and still had a huge bill.
