I'm in! Getting the 124 back from the bodyshop next week so it will be it's first outing in 5 months! I did take it to the last one but I couldn't get on the list so had to park elsewhere. It was the only 124 there though so looking forward to seeing a few more this time. List is already over 100 so make sure you get in quick!

I'm in and signed up, just have to persuade the missus now that it will make a good day out for us and our boy who will be 6 weeks old!

I'll have my three year old and eight month old in tow. The three year old is obsessed already. If you make it with the family, our wives can despair, sigh, shake their heads and raise their eyes in unison.

Sounds like a plan. I really hope I can make it as I would love to see that 6 wheeled AMG thing.

I would'be brought my barge along but I'll be toy car racing (and organising for 105 drivers) in a field outside Slough on that day frown

I intend to buy a 166 3.0 - but I'll probably keep it a secret as the 166 gets such criticism here!
I think the 166 is quite sexy. I considered one before buying a 156 2.5 a few years ago. Bloody seats were awful so that went before too long.

It doesn't get criticised by everyone - I loved mine.

The 166 is a really pretty car and there are quite a few out there that have covered big mileages.

Its pretty amusing; the interior of my same-year R129 is beige and has done almost precisely the same miles, yet looks brand new in comparison.

I have signed up for the SS as well, will be there in the pagoda all being well - see there is another on the list already.

I've also signed up for the Sunday Service in the hope I will be free to attend (currently 50/50) - the one at Morgan on Sunday was fantastic. I've got my name down now, and will remove it as soon as I know one way or the other.

Thoughts on arranging a barge parking area/meeting point?

My Amazon copy was only £7.98 plus £2.75 postage!

Interesting that when I first looked there were a handful of sub-£20 copies, now nothing below £49. Have we bought tat, are the higher priced copies over-priced, or did we get a bargain? Regardless, we will need r129sl to repeat his recommendation in volume 9 before we can recoup our expenditure!
Came home to this book - just spent 90 minutes absorbed in the chapters dealing with the 80s onwards - not wishing to over-Merc the thread, or derail it into a books thread, but a really interesting read, and a really good recommendation from r129sl.

That sounds like a good idea.

I've been keeping an eye out for the sign-up because I know they go quick. Since I'm on hols I'd not been able to monitor so closely this week. Anyway, I got the kids to sleep tonight after a day at the beach and there it was, I'd missed it by hours... Somehow I've sneaked in at 559/600.

Well I've been in contact with both CharlesDeGaulle and R129sl and have exchanged contact numbers so think we're going to meet up, if you wanted we could always meet up at a local petrol station or something and turn up in barge convoy....though suspect R129sl will be there early as his W124 is going in the fancy building(?) biggrin

MASSIVE congrats to R129sl for his W124, he's done a bloody marvellous job. Just wish I had the funds and could justify doing a similar sort of thing for the E65 - first thing would probably be a full suspension refresh as I'm sure after 113k miles it won't hurt!
