I got my gearbox oil changed along with the pan/filter for £405 at TL Jaguar at around 130k,
That seems like a shed load of cash. Is it an involved job? My 210 was £180 at an indy as a comparison.tobinen said:

It's kind of par for the course with me. Spend a fortune that I'll never see back, get bored of the car and sell it so somebody else gets the benefit.
To be fair though, what else can you do? I could probably have saved a vast amount doing it myself but it all needed doing so I was faced with bin the car off after just 3 weeks knowing it needed a load of work and loose money that way or bite the bullet and keep it.
Was there no decent independent garages around? To be fair though, what else can you do? I'm about to spunk around £1400 + labour on my suspension, sourcing OEM suspension arms myself has probably saved me £600 over the dealer alone. I shudder to think what the final bill would be if it went to a dealer for the work though.

Incoming... BMW i8?
That's the one. BMW seem to only wheel out the talent when designing the sporty cars.
Anything vaguely practical looks so village you can't believe they came out of the same studio responsible for the i8, Z4 and Gran Coupe cars.
R8 => cocked hat.

I like the look of this Saab 9000. I know from experience that those seats would be the comfiest you've ever sat in!.
Superb car, and in a good spec. They rarely come up in this sort of shape these days.Edited by wibblebrain on Friday 5th September 15:14
Wonderful things the 9000 and for that money, that is a great buy.
It has had the right work done, and so I would expect the oil changes to have been done regularly which will protect the timing chain.
No sludge issues with these engines and can be tuned to silly levels.
What does the panel make of this?

I'll perhaps post a cheeky pic here when it arrives, then take it out for a spin and hope I don't meet a 600 BHP Saab 9000. BMW seem to only wheel out the talent when designing the sporty cars.

I agree that the dark blue somehow doesn't quite work on these old buses, but silver is just so anonymous. Dark green and black both work well. You MUST lose the tints on the rear windows.
I'd also always be pining for the E55 if I bought a 430 but maybe that's just me. 4.3 litres ought to be enough for anyone really.

The fluid is apparently very expensive: I didn't believe them at first but I called several indys and these guys were the cheapest: some of the others wanted £500-£550. It took them around an hour to do and they did say that the majority of the cost was the fluid and sump.Patrick Bateman said:

That was my local Indy! End of the day, I'm happy with the car, it's good peace of mind to know that it's fundamentally a straight car and has a (relatively!) clean bill of health from the mechanic! I was a touch worried that the shimmy under acceleration was the box about to meltdown but he says it's the worn subframe bushes.I'm about to spunk around £1400 + labour on my suspension, sourcing OEM suspension arms myself has probably saved me £600 over the dealer alone. I'd love to get all the bodywork sorted, the panels are straight as an arrow but the rust is waiting in the wings! (Pun intended!) hopefully it'll survive the winter with some waxoyl treatment and then I can save up to get that, and the subframe bushes done.
This thread likes its' Mercs, but this ad would stretch even our collective love.
I've seen worse ads. But not many.
