Barge you say?

I like this, it has a certain style to it and I imagine it will waft in a manner that only a French luxobarge can.
Not convinced that will do any single thing better than a tidy late E39 530i.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

And it'll certainly do a lot of things worse.

It's funny you should mention this, I saw one earlier today in blue driving down St James' Boulevard in Newcastle with tyres almost completely flat and collapsed suspension at the rear, and I remarked to my other half that they were quite nice looking cars back in their day.http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

They are huge in the back - which is handy, as most ended up as taxis. And it'll certainly do a lot of things worse.
Although never popular with the motoring press, I've never found them bad cars at all. Well built, comfortable, quiet and well equipped. The ride/handing is a bit iffy as they don't ride as well as you'd expect and handling is nothing special. There is quite a bit of 605/XM stuff under there.
So, not bad, but not great either. Best sampled in diesel format with an autobox for not a lot of money.

I still like the look of these. Nice wheels and the 4.2 in a great colour with a reasonable 98k miles (though there's still the gearbox to worry about). Not too bad for £1,750, it would be nice to knock it down to £1,500 though. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...
were the gearbox to KABOOM tomorrow. that'd break for more than that. Y2Blade did exactly that... drove it until it broke and then sold it off for a profit IIRC.Lovely Lovely cars, was looking at them before I took the plunge with this CLK
I regret not buying it!
Despite my A8 neutrality I have been looking at this ad almost every day!

And the fault causing the E65 to cough like someone with emphysema at high rpm is....
FFaulty air mass meter. Getting fixed Monday now and will cost about £200 all in from a mate.
Oddly, on the drive down it was revving cleanly right to the redline.
Great news Ross!FFaulty air mass meter. Getting fixed Monday now and will cost about £200 all in from a mate.

I had a lovely drive around Edinburgh today, the suspension work has made a massive difference to my car, particularly over poorly maintained roads (all of them in Edinburgh!) and cobbled streets.
I W124 spot on the drive through - I counted 5 today, not bad for a 20+ year old model.
oddly, on the way to the garage, the car was hitting the red line absolutely fine and driving normally!! Obviously it's only just on its way out but I need my car to be reliable so of course it's getting changed ASAP.
Dropping it off at my mates tomorrow and he'll drive it to his works and change it there. I'm borrowing his 2010 Audi A6 3.0 tdi, will be interesting to compare the 2. I've been in the A6 before and of course the engine or ride quality isn't refined but will be interesting to see what it drives like. It's a nice enough car and the interior is a nice place to be.
It'll certainly be more economical than the V8
Normally, I average 23-24mpg but since I've been driving normally and not using kickdown this week at work (reset the computer again) it has been averaging 28mpg....and that's usually 70-80 on the motorways with some town in as well which I'm quite impressed by!

A potential engine problem is a £200 fix, always good news in my book! How much depreciation are you experiencing on your top end luxury BMW again Ross?oddly, on the way to the garage, the car was hitting the red line absolutely fine and driving normally!! Perhaps you will 'upgrade' to an A6 in the coming weeks

This is my favourite colour on any car. It really needs the ambers back on it though IMO.Mustard said:
From the rusty era, but looks very very clean
Nice way to travel for a little over 3k (just excuse the dealer fitted no doubt cheapo tyres) with loads of life left in it

I thought these CLK where ok for rust. It's the earlier version that struggles.Nice way to travel for a little over 3k (just excuse the dealer fitted no doubt cheapo tyres) with loads of life left in it

Seems reasonably priced, I really like the colour and could even live with the 2 tone seats.

Is that two-tone interior original - seems a few years past the peak of such garishness, seen best (worst) on C43s and E55s? I wonder if they have simply leather painted the centre panels to disguise damage? Happy to be corrected. Stegel said:

I'd hoped to view today but couldn't make it. The dealer's texts don't inspire much confidence though.
