Was browsing through Mercedes Enthusiast today and saw a couple of barges (1 out of budget admittedly) that might interest folks on here....

A little outside thread budget and I'm sure this will be a marmite car but it does look decent:

Lovely interior but the mint ice cream look on the outside isn't nice.
They put a 2.6 in that?....Really?!

I'm the other way around...I like the exterior but not so much with the black interior.

Coatbridge? Might bring back too many bad memories for me to make a trip there.........

I didn't think they did a 260se either- just seen it's Phillippines spec... must be quite a "leisurely" drive...

Coincidence. I was just browsing the mag as well and going to post the W140 v12. Looks reasonable value at £3k with new screens and paint?

Sounds like you may have a tale to tell Derin? You wouldn't be the first person to have bad memories of Coatbridge!!

I'm pretty sure we've seen this before - the all-caps, punctuation-free ad seems vaguely familiar.

Pity, because it might be a decent car.

I went to East Fortune today (The National Museum of Flight Scotland) for the wheels wings show (though I didn't realise it was on until I got there, I was just visiting the planes with my dad).

I went over to look at an old merc 4 door, and bumped into the chap who sold CharlesdeGaulle's W124 in Glasgow who was also taking a good look (I took a look at the car for CDG). A small world!

There was also this rather nice 750 e38. Lovely interior!

And a mint looking XJS:

I wonder if they belong to a PHer?

Don't think much of the Shelby stripes on the 7.

Wish I'd known that was on, would've been a nice wee family day out. Had a good run in the e55 today, wife, two kids, my mum and the dog, all very civilised but had some fun with a young chap in an ek9 coming off a roundabout onto a stretch of dual carriageway, would love to have heard the chat in the Honda as the old bus dropped a gear with an English pointer staring out the rear window at him. driving

For those of us without the benefit of a catalogue, and a dose of can't-be-arsed-itis to search, do spill the beans...

Oh, and congrats!

Nailed the first one for under it's estimate, however it was the second that I really liked and got that for the bottom estimate, which was a bargain.

One will look perfect with a suit, the other will look cool with everything from a suit to a hoody. Means I can retire my old Geneva from normal use (too much sentimental value)

Anyway, excuse the derail. The 560SEC price is the real headline. Over £32k and even more than a lower mile R107 is a really powerful statement. Both cars were absolutely as new.

Id wager that the 600 in the Merc mag classified is edo's pals one; the lambs wool rugs being the giveaway.

It was the perfect weather for it, and made me look like I'd organised things very nicely indeed! I do like these e55s, sounds like you are having fun in it. In some ways they make more sense now than when new (provided you get a good one).

How about this http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C541637 Slippery's comments on the W126 make me want one even more - the A8 I had felt pointlessly fast and too like a modern A4 to me!

I worked at Monklands Hospital (twice) during my training for very extented periods. It's virtually the centre of the Buckfast Triangle...and why I'm so good at fixing-up totally smashed up faces!

Is that the same colour as the W126 260 SE posted very recently? Looks a lot more bearable here I must say if that actually is the case.

Google "BMW VIN decoder", there's loads.

http://bmwvin.com/

Etc.

Used to be as simple as phone your local dealer and they'd tell you, ditto the history. Until they worked out they could use a premium rate number.

You still can if you have a good relationship with your dealer/parts manager.
and if you only have a reg mark, put that into the extended warranty site here:

https://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/

then you can put the last 7 digits in here:

http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

You can also do it through the owners part of the BMW UK site but it involves logging in using a default password they quote on the page, which gives you the full build spec smile

Noticed these myself. Didn't the 600 belong to edo's friend Peter? And I think he 560 has been online somewhere but now I can't find it.

Edit: here's the 560. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-560-SEL-/181523...

I love the W126, get a good one and I don't think you'd regret it! I also don't think it'll be long before they really start to increase in value either.

The motto - possibly the mantra - of the barge-ist! How many of our wives have heard that one?
