He impresses me too. His site oozes enthusiasm and honesty (daft, I know, but it just does...)
That car looks a peach. He doesn't often seem to have estates otherwise he'd be on my speed-dial.
I spoke to him via email a month or so ago and he seemed like a very nice chap. I just want to know how he sources his stock! That car looks a peach. He doesn't often seem to have estates otherwise he'd be on my speed-dial.

It'll be interesting to see what's causing the issue because it drives absolutely fine and doesn't wallow around in corners....would it not handle absolutely hideously if a spring had snapped?
Probably not. I had an E46 330 Convertible that snapped 3 rear springs in the 2 years I had it - on a car less then 3 years old. Only once was I 100% sure the spring had snapped and that's because I could actually see the snap with the wheel off. At idle though you could sometimes feel/hear a bizarre resonance from the back - presumably where the 2 bits of metal were touching.Funnily enough, in 20 odd years of driving, I've never had springs snap before or since.
My Dad's abused Volvo 340 had a snapped spring (but it turned out it had been involved in a major accident a few years back once he checked it out).
I would doubt BMW 7 series springs snap in normal usage - I have 4 merc springs near me at the moment and the metal may become less efficient over time, but they don't seem likely to ever snap.

There was a metallurgy aware post on the Benz official forum recently on this subject. I can dig out and post verbatim if necessary just ask... but the long and the short of it was that to save the odd quid here and there the springs from major German manufacturers may not being annealed/hardenned/rust proofed as well as they once were.I would doubt BMW 7 series springs snap in normal usage - I have 4 merc springs near me at the moment and the metal may become less efficient over time, but they don't seem likely to ever snap.
German, German, German . . .
Citroen is French for 'Smoker'

'The CX is really without rival – other than perhaps within the Citroen family. It offers an astonishing driving experience tempered only by frustrating electrics and the need for a different kind of maintenance to other classics – many garages will run a mile. However, there’s good club support and an enthusiastic following for these machines. That is for a reason – these cars are exceedingly stylish and supremely useable, offering a cruising ability that most Seventies and Eighties cars struggle to match. They’re seriously impressive'.
The full review is very amusing, with lines like 'Driving a CX is an experience like no other car. It’s not uncommon for someone to drive one for only a few miles before deciding that they never want to drive one again. But you should give the car a chance to grow on you. Take time on the test drive to really get a feel for the car, before making a rash decision about its unconventional performance and handling'.

Although I did have a snapped spring on my ex-red 230CE.
Snapped springs are extremely common on BMW E46s (and Z4s for that matter). I didn't discovered a snapped rear spring on my ex-E46 CSL (only 28K miles on the clock at the time) until a did an underside detail...which was after I done a more than double speed-limit blast in it (although I may just have dreamt that last bit!).

I guess I should really tell this to the chap at work with the e46 330 that leans to one side then!Snapped springs are extremely common on BMW E46s (and Z4s for that matter). Cars are also a lot heavier these days......the springs may be just as good, but have to cope with more....perhaps?
Anyway, I need to car later for approx 15 miles and I'm working tomorrow but should be able to cycle, and I may not need the car again until it gets dropped off Wednesday. I'll just be gentle with it!!

A nice enough looking 730: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C467487 and only £995
"White with black leather interior. 91,000 miles. MOT till March 2014. Tax till September 2014. This is an unmolested car in good, original condition. I am only the second owner having bought the car in 2004. Electric seats, windows and sun roof, and cruise control all working. Service history, receipts, MOT's, all manuals, original radio, 2 keys."

Wrong engine for me, I'd most like a 35i M30 or 40i M60..."White with black leather interior. 91,000 miles. MOT till March 2014. Tax till September 2014. I reckon you'd quite like an E32 0a. Good, solid cars. Plus, those M30's just keep going.

I think I would like one - the e23 was a little too old fashioned for me. Regarding the car above - wrong engine, but it's damn cheap and might make a nice barge for someone!
I reckon the engine would be fine for any sort of realistic barge-ing requirements.Looks a decent car that's had decent long-term ownership to me. I can't do white, so it's a colour-fail, but that aside someone would do well with that I reckon.
So yesterday I finally summoned up the courage and bought my first ever Shed. I think it just about classifies for this thread?
'96 Audi Cab 2.6 v6 for less than a grand? And it had a cambelt 10,000 miles ago? and it has 5 months MOT? well, how could I not...
Oh, and the engine bay, which seems not to have been steam cleaned, looks like this:
there are a few odds and ends wrong with it cosmetically (that passenger side mirror is a touch wonky, but otherwise seems to be in remarkably fine shape. Fingers crossed... I'm off to drive it down to the south coast now. Wish me luck!

Edit for historical completeness: I made it, 200 miles, most completed with the top down, and nothing fell off or broke.
