Wonder if this twin turbo V12 W220 will end in budget?

Don't see many for sale, although I did miss one a month or so ago for £4k which was annoying.

Wow, deeply impressive bit of kit that! I'd prise the S60 badge off the back so everyone thinks it's a diesel...
Then re-map to 600 BHP. These are around 10k though, so now I'll consider these too.
Annoyingly, this one ends at around 7:30 in the morning.

Ended within budget. That's pretty epic - surely there's not much else that can touch it for overall power and specification...?http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-MERCEDES-S600-LIMOU...

well if you click your link then ebay is redirecting to another one for sale. Must be a new feature. You are borkfearless!http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-MERCEDES-S600-LIMOU...

Here's one with low miles, been for sale for a while so may be able to get near to thread budget. I don't like the bodykit, sills, and lower front bumper. Tinted windows would have to go as well. Black interior is nice.

I like that, but not the tinted windows. The one that sold above had the AMG brake upgrade - essential in my eyes. £4.5k was a bargain (compared to a similar engined CL at least). http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-Benz-S600-5-5-a...
Does anyone know if they only did the S600 in L version?

...the 4.4 V8 7er managed 33mpg over the 70 miles (2 cold starts, as the course was 10 hours long).
I won't be doing that for tomorrow for the 2nd part of the course, it was too boring, but interesting to see what it could get on a gentle amble.

While we're doing fuel here's the result of my first 6000 miles in my December 2000 E39 530i Touring with manual transmission.
Over the whole 6K I'm at between 32 and 33 mpg on the fuel computer, which discounting for the optimism it generally displays tank-to-tank, equates to about 31.5 in reality. If I keep it down to 60mph cruising on good roads I can get into the 41-42 mpg bracket (so about 40 mpg true) between one particular Shell station and home, which is about a 45 minute drive (and about as long as my patience will hold out at that speed). If I am out on the moor roads using lots of brakes and letting the engine sing, it comes down to about 26 mpg on the computer, probably 25 true. If I do a motorway run at a true 70 to 75 mpg cruise then I get mid 30s, call it 33 or 34 mgh true.
Short runs and roads where I am stuck in the lower gears it's mid to late 20s but that's fair enough. For an old barge it impresses me. The cruising fuel consumption is better than I get on similar runs in my much lighter Porsche 944 Turbo, and actually very close to what I got from my last automatic E39 530D, which was a facelift model. The manual transmission was always said to make a big difference to the fuel figures on the diesels and I reckon it does on the petrol cars too.

Pretty impressive figures which should give us hope. My E39 530i always impressed me fuel consumption wise. It was terrible from cold around town - 18-22mpg depending on season (Though I must have a uniquely awful commute as my 530d is currently on 25) but once warmed up remarkably efficient. I a few times I just topped 40mpg and on a 3000 mile trip from here to Budapest and back via the Autobahns, Prague, Vienna and the Austrian Alps it averaged exactly 35mpg - including city, mountain and the odd 100mph+ segment.Over the whole 6K I'm at between 32 and 33 mpg on the fuel computer, which discounting for the optimism it generally displays tank-to-tank, equates to about 31.5 in reality. I come seeking your advice, bargistas. The following car is on my radar.
Mercedes-Benz w124, natch. 300 CE-24. 160,000miles. £600. Taxed and tested to the end of the year.
Bit of fun for the winter and spring or a total waste of time and money?
Here is the ad:
I have a 300CE 24v Coupe that I bought as a non-runner for spares - it now runs (just needed a new dizzie cap) and is too good to break, IMHO. Dating from January 1992 with circa 160,000 on the clock, Nautic Blue with Mushroom leather, 3 new tyres, 8 hole alloys, tax and MoT to December 2014. Paintwork is tired, and both front wings will need replacing soon, drivers seat bolster has the usual hole, otherwise not a bad car, capable of improvement for a few more years use at not much expense, even less for a DIY man.
First offer of £800 now £600ovno secures, and it can be driven away, I need the space!
From the pics I see it has air con (presume fubar), 'lecky seats and a five speed auto. And the pics:
