Sold for £4,117.55.

Anyone here? I was going to have a cheeky bid at 4K until I found out it hadn't been taxed since Feb 2014 meaning the vendor had covered 2K miles in about a year of ownership and then parked it up. I'm always suspicious of cars that have been sat, particularly with the bork potential of this car.

Good luck to the new owner whoever it is!
Interesting, looks very cheap IF the car is ok..... I was bidding but the other bids seemed very suspicious. Some other posters here also pointed out a few aspects of the cars history which didn't seem to stack up. For those reasons I pulled out of the bidding.

Don't be greedy Nick! That looks gorgeous and to me easily worth the £4k if it's solid the history stacks up, no?

How's yours progressing btw?
Yes I think so Harry, I registered to bid online and one the chaps there rung me with an appraisal but i've been virtually locked in the office this week working so didn't get round to placing a bid. I wouldn't have gone to £4.5k on a phone bid anyway so wouldn't have one.

£4.5k seems fair but look at this one from Aug at Anglia Auctions; http://www.angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auct...

Potentially cheap at £2k.

Mine hasn't progressed...... hence considering buying another......

Whilst the thought is fantastic, I think you'd really struggle to fit the V12 in there....

Still, I won't stop you dreaming hehe
My understanding is that you can fit the V12 in pretty much any BMW that has a straight 6. So you could have a M160i instead of that M135i.

is a V12 the same length as a straight 6? I thought on a V the pistons alternated along the crank, so it's 12 long rather than 6 long but 'doubled'?
Arranging them in a V rather than a straight line almost halves the length, do in theory yes. In practice, almost, but near enough. A straight 6's length is determined by cylinder spacings rather than the crank.

just me being thick, i get what you mean now, it's the conrod (plus a bit) width rather than cylinder width as they're offset

I'm pretty sure I have seen that done on an e81.

An LS600h appeals but I fear it will be a long time before they drop into barge territory.
This one is cheapest in country.

It's not often that the availability (albeit not fitted) of chrome wheel arches is used as a selling point for potential buuyers of an old Merc.

Have we had this?

I am currently e32 obsessed - I think an e32 will be the next barge I randomly purchase when I have a spare few days and the right car is available.

Any would-be barge owners need only read the above to understand what is required for admission to our 'club'.

Majestic!

Lack of UK MOT etc may be world of Bork but on the face of it this could be a beautiful example.

CT is every two years (French MOT) and covers roughly the same areas. Anyone spending that much on metric tyres isn't going to have allowed the car to become a basket case IMO.

Ooh that's a lovely old thing. Honestly would have had that over my E39 if the timing had been better, so much cooler.

What is the typed equivalent of verbal diarrhea called? Lots of it in that advert anyway.

Does look tidy but the only way I would pay that much for a P plate would be receipts for all the big ticket stuff, none of which mentioned. Have spent nearly £1000 on my E39 so far so that E38 could easily become a £5k car when you start ironing niggles out. Just not worth it.

His descriptions have made me chuckle in the past: please note- his example is ALWAYS the best of its kind. Fact.

Lovely colour combination though: I'm a sucker for deep reds/dark purples on a car

looks nice, although it doesn't look right without gingers on a pre-facelift
