Point taken. I've never heard of them it was just the name sounds like one of those dealers who change their name a lot. I would say that very very few people pay 10k for 124's so a bit more effort and detail on the ad would help ( not however the Wikipedia history of the model which seems to be popular with some dealers) .
Agree about the name, it's not in Gatwick & it's not exactly a Motoring World. They probably took it in PX from some old boy.

I quite like the look of this. Arches apparently done, reasonable miles, and £2.5k http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C539196#

the stereo system on my e91 is an absolute disgrace but upgrading it isn't economically worth it.
Have you enquired about price? If the car is a keeper than I think it could be worth it.

I do like good sound quality.... I was daft enough to spend over £400 on a set of earphones..... Which were far more expensive than the player they get plugged into hehe
It would be the thick end of a grand which is too steep given I usually only spend about 20mins a day in the car.
Ah OK that's quite expensive actually! Would rather spend that on something like a suspension rebuild or whatever I reckon.

I would expect an audio upgrade can be done for a fair bit less.
Decent Alpine (Old school V12 model) 4 or 5 channel amp can be had for under £100.
Set of Focal speakers (good second hand) would set you back £200ish.
Subtle sub in the boot for less than £100 and a couple of hundred for installation.
So I would say £500 all in for a huge improvement and keeping the original headunit.
Of course of you changed that also add £100-£150 for a good used one (Alpine/Pioneer).

And Ross, as an aside, I know what you mean about earphones.
I have a set of Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10's and a set of UE900's for my (Sony) MP3 player.
Stunning sound quality (although both cost me less than what you paid wink) and most people won't understand why you do it....until they try them! smile

Just outside of the budget is this 100k mile Honda Legend. Smoked front lenses seem odd but otherwise looks great, even Michelin tyres (well, at least one!).

4WD and 4WS aren't they? Not very handsome from the outside, but the interior looks nice. Pretty much guarantee you'll never see another unless you work at a Honda dealer too. biggrin

Only ever seen one rather old Legend pottering around my way. I have to say that I like that, even the smoked lights don't look all that iffy though I think a rather less chunky grill might've improved thing a touch.

Found this by chance this morning.

1998 728i, £1795

1 owner, 87k miles, allegedly full BMW service history, full matching Continental tyres, 2 keys etc, although the pics on the right hand side aren't great and could hide a few sins.

Tempted isn't the word...

Just been having a read and apparently they steer and handle brilliantly too. Hmm.

Probably not a bad barge but unless you *need* something on a 56 plate, I think most would prefer an E65, Lexus LS or GS especially when you keep in mind the Honda's turn of pace and the higher level tax.

I suspect the Honda to have generally lower running costs than the others mentioned, mind.

I'd like to keep the interior looking as original as possible though and suspect that your solution wouldn't allow that. From what I'm told the E90/91 has shallow door cards for speakers so you have to be careful. Plus the sub in the boot would eat into an already limited boot space on the E91.

That's nice. I'm fairly new to this thread and haven't been keeping track of costs in general, but that looks strong money for an '01 with 178k miles? Is the 'Sport' particularly sought after?

Seems bit overpriced in the current market.

I paid 2500 for my 2001 e38 728 sport with 110000 miles. I think the sports are desirable but not worth a great deal over the standard car.

Still a nice mile muncher though! .... With a bit of haggling
