Grrr, you are right of course. The ones I used to drive were the 2.7 Honda engine.

Hope Ross gets better soon and we see him back on here in a few weeks. Tough times.

Hi all,

I visited Ross yesterday evening.

The initial signs of recovery are positive, however there is a long way to go. He's still fairly sedated and on a ventilator.

He is able to hear and communicate through basic writing, nodding, smiling and squeezing your hand.

I told him about all the kind messages PHers have given and he smiled.

Before he went in he spent some time cleaning his 7 Series, I can't wait until he's back out there driving and looking after it again.

I will you all posted.

Best wishes,

Matt
Hi Matt

Please pass Ross my best wishes and tell him I'm looking forward to buying him a pint when he's out and about again.

A touch over budget by the time it's shipped. I've been considering one of these for quite a while, so I keep tabs on availability regularly. I think this is a nice example considering age, mileage and price.

Beat me to it, spotted it this afternoon and was going to post it

WANT! WANT! WANT!

That and a really good early R129 5.0 would do me lovely. Why does it have to be at this time of year when logistics are problematical?

Do you think if I just sent the chap £2791 he would keep it until late January?

Mind you, does the nearside front wing look a different colour?

ETA: as Oa points out, NSF wing definitely not right.

Agreed. Still want. But timing (i.e. only just got 500SEC in the road) and logistics (Christmas + flights and ferries etc) are an issue.

But it's a pre-Sacco 6 cyl in apparently good nick and in an attractive (to me!) colour. Sleepless nights ahead. I've no problem at all with the price, if it was local, or at least on the same land mass I'd buy it 1st and worry about the issues second.

I've come to realise recently that, although we should buy these cars on condition above all other considerations, because they are basically rare classics now, colour is very important to me, hugely important. Given the choice of a minty W124 in e.g. white or brilliant silver Vs a decent one in a range of other colours e.g. Blauswhartz or Impala or the various pale greens, even Almandine - I'll go for the 'odd' colour every time.

W211 estate purchased now. I'm sorry to have to tell you that I plumped for the diesel. However I did manage to find a non sport model with wheels to keep that bargesque feeling.

A 320cdi, it's not blisteringly quick, but it can shift some, and returns 40 without being too restrained on the motorway.

In time, I doubt it'll still be knocking around like that black, almost 25year old 230 TE, which does look steep for a private sale.

Isn't it another private seller advertising at trade £? I'd rock up with 3bags of cash, empty another £100 from my wallet and "borrow" a couple of hundred from a primed "reluctant and mocking mate" . It's still gonna need money spent on it.

Good car the E320 CDI, especially in estate form. You can't really beat them for value, refinement and economy.

Have to disagree - the 230 is reasonably smooth and can haul the old bus along just fine. I have a 280 and it ain't quick. The 24 valves are not all that smooth either. Plus the 230 offers slightly better economy. The lack of aircon would bother me more, but for a caramel interior I think I could put up with it!

I have the I6 320 and also get about 40 on the motorway and that is without hanging about.
