On the topic of Lexus GS, here's a left field version:

We've had one for 15 years, it goes very well....

I'm not sure that they always do. The picture you post is of a w210 E55 AMG. My recollection is the w220 has a standard air box, albeit usually with an AMG badge clagged onto the front portion, just aft of the star. The clips on these front portions often break however, and it is entirely possible that a replacement would not have the AMG badge on it. Alternatively, it may be that the badge just came off. See pic below. The only way of telling for certain would be to check the engine number as stamped on the engine.

This seller doesn't seem to have managed to get the car into one photo, but it's only £1k and I like the colour and leather. The wheels would need changing for proper ones.

Marmite colour. Seems cheap for miles and apparent condition? Think seen before?

46k on the clock and huge history.

Probably opening a can of worms here, but £6k?!?! 210k miles, 21years old and left hand drive, madness!

I'm thinking about buying a 190 for some reason, something like this: http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C552457

For use alongside the 300E and to make it feel a bit faster and well equipped in comparison!
Seen that one before. Nice colour and unusual colour tex interior - with optional front armrest, but carb - no thanks. Would definitely want an 'E'
That's a comedy advert (ABS breaking (sic) - hardly a selling point!) and 'defiantly worth viewing', but I love the colours and its simplicity.

Did you follow-up on it 0a?

ETA - just seen the location; quite a road trip, even by your standards!

I'm inclined to agree. It's hard to find very much that appeals about a left-hooker, unless it's for the French holiday home.

Hmmm, Derin....?

Bargeists

I have, hopefully, sold my S430 (never sold till the money is in the bank!) so obviously I need a replacement - well strictly I don't because I have 4 other cars, but lets not want and need get get in the way of frivolity!

Ownership of the Merc (my first) have been totally painless, only expenditure has been tyres & MOT (no advisories) and the price I've agreed for the sale means I've actually made a couple of hundred quid (not inclusive of fuel!)

In the past I always discounted Mercs but this one has kind of changed my thinking

So if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears, although no R129s tempting as some of them are at the prices they are, I already have the 928 which is more practical for my use.

And no Audis either I'm afraid, I've had the use of various models over the years from A3 Tdi's to A8s and driven a few RS models, as much as I appreciate the build quality, the driving experience always left me feeling a bit meh.

Pickled - a Jag!

The cheapest XJR you can find. An experiment.

I do like a Jag, have owned a SIII, XJ40 (Daimler) and X300.

What are the X350 versions like?

I haven't been in any of the smaller engined versions, but the X350 Super V8 is genuinely impressive. It lacks the character of the XJ40 or X300. It feels sanitised - but much more capable.

Underrated, I'd say. Light, lively, well-built.

Arguably slightly confused, as they are MILES more modern than they'd have occupants and onlookers believe. I believe this is normally attributed to the Americans' Mr Darcy Van Dyke view of what a British luxury car should be. Your Lordship.

Whilst they ride as well as their contemporary competitors, perhaps they aren't as 'just right' as X300 / X308. The best bit is the 2-300kg advantage they hold over everything else in the sector.

I expressed my appreciation for this car but my post was removed! I suspect the computer thought the word was bad.

Looks very, very special to my eye.

No, I need to finish the w124 first really. I may have a couple more things done next week as the MOT is due.

I wouldn't really mind about collecting from Brighton - I collected the 300e from Exeter. Fly down to Gatwick, jump on the train and a pleasant shakedown run of 467 miles on the way back sounds fine smile

Classic.

PH thinks my link was a private advert. Well done everyone.

  • Slow handclap.
The w124 I mentioned is at Great Paxton Motor Co. No, it's not my business!

That W124 4 door looks amazing and it has been here before. I can't even think about looking at it given how much I have spent on mine though.

2.6 manual in taxi colours with 126k. So wrong I like it.

I thought it was because I said "Ooof" and PH thought I was levelling a homophobic insult at you for not buying it. Too much Dailymailing.
