Best Smoker Barges 1-5 large [Vol 7]

I suspect there has been a misunderstanding there. Radiodanno, I thought you were slow handclapping the Pistonheads system which removed your post in the mistaken belief you ere hawking your own car; CdeG I suspect thought Radiodanno was aiming it at all of us who no doubt get enough slow handclaps from our wives.
Oa, the paints and upholstery site is www.astralsilber.de. Given you're just up the road, I'm sure the opportunity will come for you to have a go in my diseasel.

Re the manual 190 above. I am driving a manual 190 petrol 2.0 as a loaner from IN Autos at the moment as they are hard at work generating a no-doubt four-figure bill on my S124 just in time for xmas.
It's all very well posting up poverty spec sub-taxi spec 90s Mercs in this thread but let me tell you the reality is somewhat different. The manual gearbox is hateful. Simply hateful there is no other word for it.
The car I am driving, which happens to be the same year and colour as my estate (1994 blue-black), has clocked up 177,000 miles and as a courtesy car is pretty hideous on first impressions. Interestingly there is not a single squeak or rattle anywhere. The 2.0 petrol is fine for the 190, I'd guess equivalent to the 230 petrol in the W124.
Does anyone know if the steering wheels on these 190s are adjustable, I've got the manual drivers seat lowered as much as it will go and I can barely get my legs under the wheel.

It isn't. This was a common complaint of contemporary road tests. I think LHD is a bit better. Rincewind209 said:
Why has this one got small vents on one front wing, and also why are they not on the other side?
On turbo and multivalve diesels, the engine air intake is in the o/s/f wing. The air filter box is just behind the vents.r129sl said:

Sorry radiodanno, I may indeed have got the wrong end of the stick. I never for a moment thought you were selling your own car, but that you'd decided not to go ahead with a purchase and therefore offered it to the thread. Some reaction to it was positive, but I and others had a downer on the fact it was LHD. Your subsequent comments I took to be aimed at those of us who'd commented, and that you were slow clapping us.
Perhaps no more than some clumsy but well-intentioned moderation? Anyway, as you said, best move on - barges await!

1) It's only suited to an auto box
2) It needs 6 cylinders, however parts for the four cylinder are surprisingly cheap and the engine is fairly economical.
3) SportLine steering wheels are a bit smaller and manageable.
4) It's better built than the A Class and let's be honest, far better looking and classy.

I still want one though, I'll just keep quiet about it until I purchase, at which point I will probably agree with you! It's all very well posting up poverty spec sub-taxi spec 90s Mercs in this thread but let me tell you the reality is somewhat different. A mere 3 times budget, but we can all dream eh - what do we think of this, a white E500 W124 with an 'interesting' interior. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1992-Mercedes-Benz-500E-...
On another note, I have become convinced my 300e is slightly down on power (though it seemed to make a fairly reasonable top speed last week) - does anyone have any ideas what I should take a look at? Searching the web suggests a replacement EHA valve.

Quite probably, it highlights what good value SL500s are though, and you can get them in RHD unlike the E500. I just noticed the rear plate and thought the odd interior might be down to Japanese taste.

More colour here, lots and lots of pictures in just about all the different hues: http://www.classicway.de/overview.php?idtitel=farb...
As you say, it makes today's cars look very drab. I often have a look for a nice Porsche 997 in an interesting colour. They don't exist. They're all silver, grey or black. I sometimes daydream about placing a special order for a new E-Class but insisting it have a large petrol engine, wood trim, tan leather upholstery, an "Elegance" grille and solid green paint.

My second ever boss had a W123 in that very colour, with a brown vinyl roof. Was a pretty basic version ( had circular headlights, manual windows, cloth interior - orange from memory, but that may be unkind), on an R registration. He loved it, but I could not see any merit in it at all - forgive me, I was young. Just look at "406 Cayenneorange", wouldn't be allowed now on a 4 door car:
