Mercedes S500, I'm guessing a probate sale since it is the only car in a general auction.
Few details but could be a bargain, estimate £1500-£2000

I dont see that making £2k at a probate auction, early car and no mention of tax or mot.

You can't buy a car with tax now so don't understand what you mean there. Agree no MOT is not a plus point but 85k miles is low.

So who takes responsibility for getting Volume 8 rolling?

Isn't volume 8 supposed to be the W124-free one?

Not really a barge. 354 bhp in a c-class that looks like a diesel appeals though (a debadge would be highly appropriate).

Anyone have any idea how these drive? Are they not supposed to have "kompressor" badges on the side?

They came with "V6 Kompressor" on the sides. They're supposed to be absolutely wild. I remember Evo magazine's review of them when new, reckoned it was total hotrod and very, very fast, although things have moved on in the fast stakes over the last decade. According to the review (issue 31), AMG said the C32 was "the best car it's made". 0-100mph is supposedly done in 10 seconds, which is pretty fast.

I'm not oversold on the tactile pleasures of the w203, however. For me it looks and feels a bit cheap, especially on the inside.

10 seconds dead to 100 is optimistic from anything I can find.

It's a true wolf in sheeps clothing! Been in one a few times and even by today's standards it's a genuinely quick car.
Think at the time autocar tested it as 0-60 in 4.6 secs and 0-100 in 10.8 secs.

It's quick by 'cooking' standards, but it's only 350 hp, let's be reasonable... 13 seconds 0-100 I would buy in a car that power and weight. Whic his still going some by the standards of the day

10.5 is what I read but, you know, what's the difference in the real world? I see Autocar recorded 10.8 to 100, 4.6 to 60. Fast enough, but it's 80 to 130 that counts.

My 129 will do 100 in 14 seconds and it weighs a lot more and has a lot less power.

Edit: I'm getting a bit slow here myself.

If that's what they got (and Autocar's numbers are usually very reliable) than sheer physics dictates that the factory's figure of a nominal 350 hp is *seriously* low-balling it.

Possibly for marketing reasons, as Chris Harris suggested here:

Nothing like really writing a good advert to sell your car!

I saw this one and thought it looked an interesting wagon for the dog

I must say I have never really given these any thought before now but I am starting to get interested in them. As a sort of stealth / sleeper M3 estate that no-one pays any attention to, it quite appeals.

I somewhat doubt that I'll ever try and earn a living from car sales, but if I do, I could knock out an advert significantly better than that in my sleep.

A chimp with a camera and internet connection could do better than that.

Funnily enough on a car 'with all the options' there's no sunroof, and the 'xenon' headlights look bog-standard halogen to my untutored eye. But not to worry, you'll get the option of a warranty for 'piece of mind'.

I'd like peace of mind: I'll give you a piece of my mind. Interesting.

Anyway, it has got xenons: no headlamp level adjuster switch by the light switch. Tiny bit of obscure knowledge for today.

The advert for the c32 estate is pretty p#ss poor, but sadly just the norm for most dealer auto trader ads. I was actually referring to the minimalist eBay advert for the saloon c32.

My SL 55 came with Kompressor badges but I found them a bit gaudy so removed them, I would do likewise on this car if it were mine.
