I absolutely love these, i agree that you can only really appreciate them by seeing them in the flesh and spending time in/around them, incredibly special cars

what's the issue with the Cam caps? not heard of this but being as the QP uses essentially the same engine as my GS i can imagine it's something i'll inevitably be affected by at some point
Google Maserati Cam variators and yes I believe it does effect the GS too. Not sure how widespread the issue is but it's basically oil starvation on startup and it make itself apparent by rattly noises on startup.

For some it seems to progress no further then this whereas for others it has caused major engine issues. There seems to be some contention that it doesn't effect the semi auto paddle cars as they are dry sumped but this isn't 100% confirmed. Some have managed to get this issue fixed under warranty if you have it but the fix is rather convoluted (read expensive) and involves getting the cam caps sent off to be machined as well as replacement parts.

I don't understand the looks on this car I think we are all being influenced by the Maserati badge. I think the interior looks a bit like the German competitors and quite nice but the outside looks a bit weird from the front and boring from any other angle.
I think the Granturismo and 4200/3200 are much nicer looking cars these old Quattroportes just aren't to my eyes. If I had the cash I'd rather have a German competitor because rarity wouldn't make me want one.
Just standing next to one when it starts up would change your mind sharpish!

Here's my old car. Not too shabby, IMO.

I've slowly crept up to a 2010 QP Sports GTS. It's much nicer than the 2004 QP, as expected. Is there anything that can be done about the 'stickiness' of old plastic/ rubber fixtures?
