Stopping DD unilaterally is an extreme option, that I'm not prepare to take without FOS or BPF approval. The consequences of cancelling DD will stay with me for a long time. I am sure that this will get to a happy outcome eventually, without extreme measures.

Cheers

Feel for you OP.

Just read this thread and took a look at the Citroen FB page. It's full of complaints. frown

Hi guys

Bad news for me.

Citron UK called to ask me what exactly is it that I want: refund, replacement...

I've been told that Citroen UK is siding with his Dealer with regards to the steering and suspension issues as there wasn't any faults found during the vehicle inspection.

Also they sent out a Citroen paint specialist (smile) to check the front bumper and the conclusion is that the miss-colour issue is due to the nature of the different materials: front bumper made from plastic and the body panels are being made from metal. Obviously I have protested against this statement. I asked why the rear bumper doesn't have the same issue as is also made from plastic - I didn't get an answer to this question.

They will call me back later today... I don't know why they even bother.

Cheers

If the paint is bad enough for it to be photographed then under a street light it must look even worse.
I call cover up - friend bought a BMW in a bright yellow that had a problem. Sent out as he put it "some young kid in a shirt and jeans". Looked at the car and apologised that it was indeed 4 different colours and the car was trailered away and completely resprayed.
Now Im not suggesting it needs a respray only the colour discrepancy then was tiny. This is cringeworthy.

Renaults have a similar issue as they do not paint the panels together, quite daft when you see how difficult it it to get metallics to match.

Have you seen any other cars with similar mis-matched paintwork? Especially at the stealers? Would be funny to look around their compound inspecting the paint match listing the ones that are right and wrong!

IME that results a slightly different tone i.e. slightly darker or lighter, not a completely different colour! If your pictures are true to life then the 'expert' must be colour blind.

Those pictures are RAW format, taken with a DSLR NIKON D3200. If anyone needs the RAW files to check that the pictures are true then please ask and I will send them to anyone.

Cheers

Don't forget the panel gaps. Don't say they're unacceptable, phrase it as a question. "Are these panel gaps acceptable on a brand new car?"

Up until now I was on the fence with this thread. I could understand the OP's problems but I could also understand Citroen's responses on some (not all) of the issues. For example I have read that the DS5 has less than perfect steering, particularly when it comes to following the camber of the road (see HonestJohn's review), so maybe the steering issues really were a case of "no fault sir - they all do that".

However, this quoted comment I find astonishing. Unless this is some massive trick of the light, or some kind of 2-tone special edition, the front bumper is clearly the wrong colour.

OP, you mention that Citroen asked you what you wanted in order to resolve the issue. What did you say?

What a day!!! It seems there may be a positive outcome for me.

At this moment in time I can't give any details about this as I'm still waiting for more details myself.

Thanks for support and for making this happening.

I will be back as soon as I have more details.

My money's on an incoming "goodwill gesture" without any admission of liability, brokered by C UK to save the Dealer's face.

If it is a replacement vehicle, go over every inch of the car with a fine tooth comb before you accept it. Take it on a test drive preferably on roads the old car would have shown steering fault on and don't sign anything until you are 100% satisfied.

It will be harder to go back a second time if you find faults with the second one.

Their approach so far hasn't instilled much faith in citroen for me. My wife has a C3 and loves it but if she decides to change I'll be persuading her elsewhere

This part should be easy to check : if you can let us know the official name of the grey colour, then perhaps one (or more) of us on PH can go to our local C dealer and take a snap of an identical car, and demonstrate whether it's true that this colour looks different on metal to plastic.

The colour is called Galena Grey. I have a picture of the rear bumper which is made from plastic and has no paint issue:
