Assuming that chassis numbers have to be given to parts suppliers when ordering parts (AND it may be recorded on the Citroen system somewhere) can a PH'er who works for a citroen dealer with access to such a system check to see what parts have been ordered for this car?

That may throw up a long list of front-end parts that would show it has been repaired - will give you more ammo to back to the supplying dealer....
It is very unlikely that the VIN needs to be supplied when ordering bog standard bodywork or mechanical parts.

I have only ever came across this requirement when they are very specialised/hard to obtain part.

(Fiat do this and I beleive Volvo, from recent experience)

Good luck OP, the story is shocking.

Car has been crashed. Stealership won't even repair it properly before flogging it on?! Story for the social media perhaps.

Haven't got wifi to open the videos but that front bumper is unbelievable!

It's as if it's off a different colour car and definataly not due to undercoat or plastics.

Good luck this AM
If you imagine the wheel to be at 12 o'clock when straight, this pulls anticlockwise 9 o'clock

Reject the car OP

They can also sometimes get smashed into things ,fall off lorries and , if on the top deck of a transporter, smash into a bridge !!!before they even get to a dealer (just like any other make of vehicle)!

They will be repaired and still sold as a new vehicle !!
A reputable dealer would tell you of a car's problems - as happened to me once, I stopped to look at a heavily discounted Citroen CX (many years ago) and they took the time to explain to me that it had been damaged coming off the transporter lorry (happened a lot to CXs because the driver forgot to raise the car's suspension height to max first). The car was repaired but could not legally be sold "new" so they were selling it as pre-registered. But it would not be pre-registered until I (or someone) agreed to buy it, upon which it would first be registered to the transport company, then immediately transferred to the real owner's (keeper's/purchaser's) name as at the same day.

So ... check your paperwork OP, are you really the first registered keeper?

Just an idea M Brad - do you think this one would be a good replacement for yours?

It's a black demo DS5 Dsign at Freeborn, £16,000,
Check out Autotrader, it pops up quite easily, I can't make the url link work.

Have a look (it's in your area) and let them know if that's what you want.

wow that is shocking, I really hope you get this sorted out promptly, There is clearly something very wrong with it pulling to the side. Hopefully the dealer will sort it when they know you won't take no for an answer, as mentioned if you can afford it i would get an independent inspection and see what it comes up with and if the inspection diagnoses the real problem i would be asking the dealer to cover the costs of the inspection that they should have done themselves, instead they have tried to say nothing is wrong so you were forced to pay for your own inspection which proved there was a problem, they did not pick up.

Hello again

First of all : A big THANK YOU for your support!

I've just returned from Stourbridge where this morning I've rejected the car officially. Got everything on record.
All the car's documents and keys where left at the Citroen ***********. I also have given them a letter explaining all the reasons behind my actions. They didn't wanted to touch the car's key but I just left them on the reception desk while video recording.
I have also sent 2 Complaint Letters: one to the Dealers' Customer Service Manager and one to the Finance Company, explaining why I reject the car and informed them that I hold them equally responsible under Sale of Goods Act 1979 and Consumer Credit Act 1974.

Some strange things happened with the car on my way back to Stourbridge. In three occasions when the front axle went over some small bumps on the motorway, 75-80 mph, the entire car begun vibrating - a high amplitude vibration through the steering wheel, seats and chassis. This made my blood frozen. Never happened to me before with any car. Very strange.

Anyway, now I feel pretty relaxed.

Cheers

Good job OP.
Hopefully it will be put to bed quickly and a proper new car will come your way.

Be sure to keep the thread updated. Makes us all sound like vultures but if nothing else it keeps the nation educated just incase a similar situation occurs with another poor sod.

Fingers crossed.

Surely the best way of doing that is to find a car 1-2 years old thats had any issues fixed under warranty

Last car I ran brand new to 3 years old was absolutely fault free, but then again it wasn't French!

I've just added a new video with the Citroen C3 that the dealer had gave it to me as courtesy car last week. Is driven on the same roads as the DS5 - please observe how the steering is rock solid no twitching or jerkiness.

That C3 was 650 miles old, 14 reg.

Thank you

Well, it's done only 2,800 miles according to the ad, and the big difference is you can test drive it before you "buy" it. Sometimes a used nearly-new car can make sense!

It's still a manufacturer approved car from a main dealer.

Yes, I've just watched the C3 video, and I agree, it behaves differently. Perhaps there is a hint of pull to the left (you do adjust the wheel from time to time) but that could be camber.

P.S. Did they give you a courtesy car today?

Nearly new stuff that ex demo or courtesy car for the service department are worth staying clear of IMO. You just know they have all had a real thrashing somewhere along the line.

For me it's either brand new with a nice discount or 2 or 3 years old.

6 months old with a few thousand on it doesn't give enough discount to justify having a car that's not brand new

Hope you find a replacement car!
